I decided to work at the DA's Office because I wanted to learn more about the criminal justice system and do what I could to help people as a public servant, she said. Black History Month is important to me because it reminds me that despite the atrocities of slavery and the systematic oppression that is still in place today, Black Americans have and are still thriving and making significant innovations in our society.
