Uncorrected myopia can make it difficult for children to see and learn. Myopia (aka nearsightedness) is a condition where the eye is too powerful or too long resulting in blurred distance vision. Once you are myopic, it tends to increase over time. High levels of myopia are associated with risk for certain eye diseases such as glaucoma, retinal detachment and cataract. It is especially important to identify myopia early in life to enhance a child’s ability to see and learn.
