Russel went mountain biking at Mt Ashland today to get out of the smoke. Mt Ashland Adventure Tours is still running the shuttle service. The phot with the smoke is taken from the top looking back at Mount Shasta. He had a fabulous rude! Air quality is still in dangerous mode in Mount Shasta, McCloud and Redding. I 5 is still closed!

Fires are getting closer to Dunsmuir! My daughter took this photo in Scott Valley this morning on our way to Mount Shasta. I5 south is still closed from the Delta Fire. Many are evacuating Dunsmuir and Castella. Please keep those communities, fire fighters, and first responders in your prayers! Thank you!

We had an awesome ride at Lake Siskiyou, Mount Shasta, Ca. Beautiful weather, amazing views, and even saw 3 Pembroke Welsh Corgis. The floating bridges at the headwaters were not put in yet so we only went half way. Remember to walk your bikes over the suspension bridge and to slow down for hikers and dogs. A little courtesy goes a long way to keeping trails open. Only one person we met had caught a large mouth bass. Lake had not been restocked yet. This is an easy, beginnin...g mountain bike trail. Places to watch out for are the boat dock area and to walk bikes near restaurants. Trail is not well signed where the stores and campground are, plus that section can be congested-especially 4th of July weekend. Beginners should walk at the headwaters since it is rocky even when the bridges are in place. Best place to park is across from the tennis courts. See more
