French playwright and actor Molière suggested that when someone acts inappropriately, to offer only calmness in return. We've heard this advice a dozen different ways before: turn the other cheek, take the high road... But it isn't always easy! If you find that your temper is quick and moderation is difficult, neurofeedback or mindfulness training may be able to help. #neurofeedback #mindfulness #temperance
This week in Neuro News: You may have wondered about the gorgeous prints hanging in our office ("Self Reflected in Violets" and "Synaptogenesis"). At PLOS Blogs, neuroscience and artist Greg Dunn talks about how his work with the human brain inspired his beautiful art. Happy Monday! This week's Frequently Asked Question: what's the deal with this robot everyone is talking about? Cozmo is our adorable little robot that responds to your brain! Using neurofeedback, you control Cozmo as he plays games. When you are successful, he will celebrate with laughter and dancing. Cozmo is loved by children, but working with him is fun for all ages! #faq #neurofeedback #robot
This week for Explore Your Brain, in lieu of an interactive activity, we wanted to share this wonderful video visualization of the brain at work. Courtesy of Hashem Al-Ghaili, check out the neuron activity of the human brain. Isn't it beautiful? #brain #neuroscience
President Theodore Roosevelt was a statesman, author, explorer, and naturalist who lived a strenuous and adventurous life. His advice for others: believe in oneself. These words are important to remember, and will pave the road to success in any endeavor. #wisdom #roosevelt
Deep breathing exercises, like those employed during yoga or meditation, have been shown to produce a more calm and relaxed state. Researchers at Stanford University have discovered which group of neurons might be responsible for those feelings. Read about the research at NPR: http://n.pr/2ofPuJw or the full study (requires paid access): http://bit.ly/2nDu7gu #neuroscience #news #meditation
This Memorial Day, we remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold our freedom. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all who offer their service and lives in the defense of our country.
Another Monday, another question! We always recommend starting with a brain map (QEEG). Collected in a similar manner to a medical EEG, the "Q" measures electrical signals produced by the brain (brain waves). We can then compare the client's data with a database of similar individuals with healthy brain function to find specific patterns that need shifted to produce optimum performance. #neurofeedback #FAQ #QEEG
