Superintendent's Cohort I am thrilled to announce the opportunity of a lifetime for our ministers who have completed or are currently completing their training through our SoCal School of Ministry. For the first time Vanguard University and the SoCal Network have developed an opportunity for our SOM students to be in an affordable cohort to receive a bachelor's degree in Theology with a concentration in Ministry and Leadership. This opportunity is made possible by a mutual ...commitment between Vanguard University and the SoCal Network to provide the best training possible for our pastors. Space is limited and the program begins this Fall 2020, so I encourage you to get your application in right away! Key Details: Vanguard University will offer a special tuition rate at a greatly reduced price for those approved to enter this cohort. Up to 30 units will be transferred to Vanguard when you complete the School of Ministry curriculum for attaining the ordained level of credentialing. This reduces your degree completion time with Vanguard by approximately one academic year! Courses will be offered utilizing the most up-to-date learning technologies in convenient and flexible classroom environments, including in-person, online and hybrid formats. There are only 15 spaces available in this Superintendent's Cohort. Study, learn and grow together with your fellow SOM SoCal Network pastors. The Network will scholarship each student $600 per academic year. These funds will be evenly distributed in $200 increments across each of the three semesters in an academic year. Each student must first complete the free application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) prior to receiving any SOM scholarship or Vanguard institutional discounts. Institutional discounts offered by Vanguard cannot be stacked or combined with any other institutional discounts. Any previously completed coursework may be transferable to Vanguard in addition to your SOM units. We offer Zoom Classes!!! Register Today! From our Director: "In the English division in May, we will be offering three Zoom classes. Pastor Brian Ross will be teaching the Certified class, "A Spirit-Empowered Church" via Zoom on May 15-16, on Friday from 5:00-9:00 pm and Saturday 9:00-3:00 pm. Pastor Rob Lee will be teaching the License class "Eschatology" via Zoom on May 22-23 on Friday from 9:00-5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00-3:00 pm. Pastor Steve Bland is teaching the Ordina...tion class "1&2 Corinthians" via Zoom on May 8-9 on Friday from 9:00-5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00-3:00 pm . You must enroll for these classes on our website at least 7 days prior to the class, so that we can send the syllabus, test, mentoring assignment and textbook to your home address. You will also receive an invitation to the Zoom meeting with the professor. The professors will teach on their computers from their home offices, you must be able to be present at the Zoom class for all hours of instruction. When you complete your reading, take the test, and do the mentoring assignment, you can send them into our office via email or regular mail, and we will give you full credit. We will also be offering some " Study at Home Classes"-- these can be completed without attending classes lectures. These classes will be "The Life and Teaching of Christ", "Relationships and Ethics", "Old Testament 2", and "Theology of Prayer and Worship". When you register for these classes, we will send you a textbook, test, and mentoring assignment. When you complete your reading, take the test, and do the mentoring assignment, you can send them into our office via email or regular mail, and we will give you full credit. You can register for these classes any day until May 31, 2020 You can register for any class that you need. Last week we lost another SoCal School of Ministry student. Konelio Maino, also known as Lio has been taking classes on our Bakersfield Campus with his wife,... Tulipa. Last year they received their License credentials with the Samoan District of the Assemblies of God. Konelio was a hard-working, quiet man, who often said, No matter what storms we have in our way we know God will bring us out of it always because He is holding down the fort! Please pray for the Maino family, Tulipa and their 8 children. May the Lord bring them peace and comfort during this time of grief. See more

My heart is broken today with the news that Alex Bernard, a friend, fellow minister, a...nd School of Ministry student, passed away today from the COVID-19 virus. Alex was a humble, loving, Christ-like, true servant of the Lord. Every time that I was in the presence of Alex, I saw Jesus shining through him. I'm sure that as Alex met Jesus’ face to face today, he heard the words, "Well done my good and faithful servant"! Please pray for his family, friends, and his church as they grieve their loss of this great man. See more

Greetings! I hope this email finds you well, and coping with all of the difficulties that the COVID 19 crisis has caused. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I wanted to notify our students that because of the restrictions in the state of California, it is necessary to make adjustments to the schedule for SOM/CDM. We will be working on changes month by month, until the restrictions are lifted and we can meet again on our campuses for classes. ... During the month of April, we are taking a suggestion from Association of District Schools of Ministry in the Assemblies of God, that during this period of crisis, we can allow our students to register in a class, and receive full credit without actually attending class. This would mean that you can register for any of the classes offered on our 10 campuses; we will send you a textbook, test, and mentoring assignment. You will have until May 31, 2020 to complete the reading, take the test, and do the mentoring assignment. You can send your completed work into our office via email or regular mail, and we will give you full credit. It is important that you understand that all work must be turned in by May 31, 2020 for you to receive credit with NO exceptions. It would be acceptable for you to register for a class on any of our campuses, as long as you complete all of the assignments before May 31, 2020. This is a unique opportunity for some of you to complete classes that you may be lacking. To register you may go online to our website schoolofministry.socalnetwork.org to find the classes that are being offered on each of our campuses. You may also register by sending an email to us at the address below and we can contact you for your payment information, or you can download a registration form, fill it out, mail the form and your check to our office.
