Students Stand with SCU Faculty! #standwithscufaculty
One of our long term community partners, The Day Worker Center of Mountain View, supports day workers with job matching services but also provides many services to those most vulnerable in our community and supports the wellbeing of the broader community through community projects. Please consider supporting this organization in this time of need and helping share with those able to help! "The Day Worker Center of Mountain View serves the most vulnerable members of our commu...nity, day workers who work hourly low-wage job, yet don’t qualify for any public assistance. Many are homeless and live in their cars or RV. They have no savings and no health insurance. Day workers are among the most vulnerable members of our community: the least well-paid, most unprotected, and most frequently injured members of the domestic workforce. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, about 65 compañer@s, came to the Center each day in search of work. Now, we limit the number of workers to five. Because of shelter-in-place, workers rarely go out on jobs. Still, we have kept our doors open to offer a limited number of workers a safe space. Our compañer@s know that the Center will always be there to welcome and support them. Without work coming in, workers, or compañer@s, are left with little to no income and with the excruciating uncertainty that comes with not knowing when they will work again. "
