These folding comfy chairs had gained some marks on the upholstery over the last few years but they are stitched into the frame. So a much quicker and easier solution was to custom make & fit these covers in #tommybahama in TBO swaying palms that wraps over the edges with ca 3 with slight elasticated hem. Today we did something new- we made oak finials!! We cut two 4.5 lengths, then with a saw, chisel & hammer we carved a 1.5 cylinder to be inserted into the pole, leaving a 3 rectangle as the finial. Finished off by sanding with 150grit followed by 320 grit sandpaper! One of our favourite finishes on #outdoorcushions is top-stitch! It helps define corners, adds a stitch line of seam security and looks neat! Pictured here is an outdoor seating cushion in #sunbrella in Navy. Another classic finish is piping but in our experience with seating cushions it often tracks both crumbs/dirt and water. About to do some re-upholstery work for a camper van... just unzipping the old covers & finding a whole heap of sins!! Foam should NOT look like this... and washable covers need to be overlooked on the inside, unless it’s a rip-stop fabric, to prevent it from shredding.... When you order your covers & cushions- make sure you double check the quality!
