SAXBY wines are Made with Love. Check out the new wine list! I've made the attached SAXBY wine list highlight bottle price, showing how SAXBY wines can be as economical to enjoy as wines from your grocery store . . . but very different. Not too many wineries ferment in small batches by hand any more, even if they are advertised as small or family owned. Locally, by definition "garagista wineries" produce thousands of cases! All these wines are made in huge steel tanks, ble...Continue reading

Just wrapping up Wine Club shipments. Please give a call if I missed contacting you. The 2012 Syrah and Zinfandel bottled last year are really drinking nicely now. As you know, the 2010 Petite Sirah won Gold this Summer and the 2009 Cab won Silver. Last few cases of the 2014 Viognier are gone any day now. I know some Club members are anxious to try the new wines coming out next month, and we are now moving forward with printing the labels. To be released: a white blend... of Viognier and Grenache Blanc called SOLEIL COUCHANT (setting sun) and a red blend called RAMPANT featuring Zinfandel, Tannat and Petite Sirah. I'm making the 2014 Syrah available to Club members as well, and all at the same time, releasing a wonderful little Rose called BIG HAT . Oh, don't forget, at this time only Club members can access the 2011 Petite Rouge, my go-to wine.
Not much time for literary exploits these days. Very busy Fall. Been listening to harvest machines all night for awhile now. Here at SAXBY Winery we do everything by hand. We're finishing up some cool new labels. Been working on Zin and Petite, a Rose and still hoping for a late harvest Petite. I do think we should change the name of "Red Astaire", our wind-dancer, to "Dances with Birds" though. I'll get a newsletter out soon and a call for Club orders. Feel free to call any...time. Things will calm down here pretty quick. Thanks. Pete and Charlie, the Old Dogs
As I run birds out of the vineyard and clear space in the winery to get ready for a fantastic Harvest Season coming up fast, I kinda remember exactly what I was doing 10 years ago, if you know what I mean. This Harvest Season I'm very excited about the new French oak barrel that arrived just yesterday, and I think it's time to start a tradition . . . So, what were you doing exactly 10 years ago when I was working on these still amazing 2007 wines? Stop and think for a moment.... Life does go by fast sometimes. Wouldn't it be great to sit back a couple times a month with a decade-old bottle from SAXBY Winery and just let your mind wander? Not something you can just buy at the store, really. You deserve it at any price, but in 2007 I was so excited about the wine I was making that I held back 10 cases each from sales. Now, I think it's time to share these amazing wines over the next few years with family and friends. These are full, single SKU cases from SAXBY Winery. At this price, why not grab a case of each and enjoy a whole year of a new tradition? Hm, '07 you say . . . SAXBY 2007 Petite Sirah, $84 per case ( $7 per bottle, get it? ) SAXBY 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, $84 per case SAXBY Wine Club members only, so if you're not a member yet, just give a call and we can fix that. Free shipping as usual in CA $20 free shipping limit on this sale price offer only. Shipping over $20 for out of State orders will be charged to the customer. Just ask about the cost of shipping to your area.

Red Astaire, A.K.A. Grand Rouge is on patrol in the vineyard. Grapes are ripening early this year.
To my surprise, two neighbors, both men my age, asked if I had named my new "wind dancer" which just arrived to scare away birds (as opposed to selling used cars!) So, why not? I'm a little thin on ideas, like Big Red or Zin Man (perhaps more appropriate for my neighbor who grows the Zin, though). Please submit your entries for the NEW NAME for Mr. Wind Dancer, pictured below, so I can choose one and make it official!
