This is awesome!

SAVE Del Puerto Canyon 07.10.2020

Update: The first five along the creek were largely unharmed by the recent fires. This area is still worth preserving. Why inundate this region to send water to an unknown location for wildlife when this is a gem itself?... Get involved, comment below or message us. #SaveDelPuertoCanyon

SAVE Del Puerto Canyon 08.09.2020

Submitted by Barry Boulton At last night’s City Council meeting SDPC followed up on our request that the council should agendize our formal presentation regarding the location of the reservoir. Two weeks after our formal request the item there has been no acknowledgement. When a council is too frightened to acknowledge receipt of a legitimate request, there may be much fear, intimidation and corruption. This has been the story for a year now - don’t upset the agribusiness... mafia whose economic and political tentacles are everywhere because, if you’re a councilmember or independent businessperson, they can and will - damage you. That’s why we need independent city councilmembers. Several pro-project people spoke, but no one NOT ONE - had the decency to address the question Why Del Puerto Canyon? They all spoke to project benefits that would apply equally to ANY of the 10 alternative locations. Del Puerto Canyon can be avoided. Again, the ONLY issue is the proposed location in Del Puerto Canyon. There will be consequences for the community, your home values will be permanently depressed by the large dam looming over I-5, in addition to the other 1.5 mile long dam along on the south. You might also ask why should I and my community pay the costs of a project that is for the bottom line benefits of agribusiness? An excellent question which the councilmembers dare not ask because they don’t have the courage, and the project team won’t tell you. Further, our local farmers will get only 25% of that water, the remainder going out of area. The truth is that Del Puerto Canyon was chosen behind closed doors for the convenience of agribusiness; community be dammed! (pun intended). The reservoir does not have to be in Del Puerto Canyon to meet their project goals. The map from the environmental impact report in which they show those suitable 10 alternatives has been attached below. Visit the website and subscribe SaveDelPuertoCanyon.org

The fire is blazing in the canyon with no containment yet. It has not reached the first five to our knowledge at this time. But there has already been 10K acreage, property, and nature destructed. We hope that everyone is able to get out safely. Thank you firefighters. #SaveDelPuertoCanyon
