Are you moved? Are you moving? Sitting still for too long creates stagnation everywhere - not only in our bodies, but also in our emotions and our minds. How can I tell if I need to move?... - you have a hard time focusing on one task - you are nervous or fidgety - you find yourself sighing frequently, or are easily irritated - your body is tense, especially in the neck and shoulders Joyful movements which take 2-5 minutes - set a timer! - put on your best upbeat song and groove for its entirety - pause at your desk and wiggle or bounce everything you can - even singing a song or laughing moves the ribs, stomach, and organs - Schedule short silly breaks with a friend to keep accountable Regular movement improves health by: - Keeps the emotions flowing - Sharpens the mind - Eases stiffness and pain - Moves the blood, improving circulation - Invites a bright moment to break up the day

Pre- and Postoperative Massage What is it? A type of medical massage treatment given before or after a surgical procedure... Why should I get it? Pre-op: - To give yourself a leg up in the recovery process, removing toxins and excess fluid before your procedure Post-op: - To minimize the pain, swelling, and fibrosis commonly associated with surgical procedures. - Not only unsightly, but these issues can make daily activities, movement, and sleep more difficult than necessary - You can get Postoperative Massage as early as 2 days after your procedure. - Sooner treated = better outcomes and lower risk for unwanted effects such as seroma or chronic digestive issues Older surgical issues - Yes, even years-old scars can be smoothed out and lightened! (925) 268-0878 [email protected] www.SarahKneadsMe.com Open to a select few: Please bring a referral from your doctor, chiropractor, or physical therapist

I dipped back into Psych101 for Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs on my walk this morning The rules are: - The bottommost layer of needs must be at least partially satisfied before moving upward to the next level - Movement upwards and downwards and bouncing between levels of need is common and appropriate... ---------------------------------------------------------- As the country is being encouraged in social distancing, I’ve got the Love & Belonging category on my mind, and how it relates directly to my sense of self-worth and self-esteem. after physiological and safety needs have been fulfilled, the third level of human needs is social and involves feelings of belongingness. The need for interpersonal relationships motivates behaviour Examples include friendship, intimacy, trust, and acceptance, receiving and giving affection and love. Affiliating, being part of a group (family, friends, work). https://www.simplypsychology.org/maslow.html I’m finding it both easier and harder to connect in this time. Easier, because of course I have much more free time to dedicate to reaching out to my people, and the technology supports different formats (text, zoom, FB, even online dance parties, etc.) Harder because I don’t get to fulfill my needs for face to face interactions and touch that I’m now realizing make up a big part of my social health. -------------------------------------------------------------- Now that I’ve identified the need, what’s the solution? Setting time aside daily and setting realistic goals for my introverted self with the knowledge that my goals can change as I go. Reaching out to my circle (5-10 people daily) Reaching out to people not regularly in my circle (0-5 people daily) Reaching out/participating in groups, both familiar and new (1 familiar daily, 1 new daily) Connection (for me, in this context) is a meaningful exchange of some kind, not just sending random notes off into the ether Hoping this game plan provides me with a daily reminder that there are so many wonderful people in my life, and loving exchanges are only as distant as I keep them. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd love to hear more ideas on how you are keeping in contact with your networks during these times! Also: if anyone wants to join me in an online dance party, let me know! https://www.daybreaker.com/event/daybreaker-live/

Good morning friends, I’m pretty open about the fact that I love to stay busy. It keeps me out of trouble, and it keeps me focused on goals while making time for the things that feed my soul. So when I heard about the lockdown, I got out my planner and began (in erasable ink, because things are in flux) to map out my days, and by extension, my mental well-being. I’ve read enough post apocalyptic and isolation-themed scifi stories to now know that humans go mad without a way ...to mark time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So, day 1 of isolation, this is what my tentative schedule for the next week looks like. Clearly this is open to change, because I'm doing 8:30 work at 6am. Live and learn and adapt :-) ---------------------------------------------------------- I would love to know how other people are organizing their time and brains around this challenge! See more

Here we go, friends! Does moisturizing your skin lead to lower age-related inflammation markers? Sure does! This study inspired me to start moisturizing again this winter. https://www.healthline.com//moisturizing-your-skin-may-hel The original study: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/jdv.15540...
