In Memory of Gonzalo Reyes Flores, January 10th, 1964 - July 13th, 2020: On July 13th, 2020 Gonzalo Reyes Flores, a loving, hardworking father and husband passed peacefully at the age of 56. He was born and raised in Jerez, Zacatecas Mexico. He later migrated into the United States in hopes of a better life. He was part of the many brave people who have crossed the U.S. border with not much but a suitcase in hand. Here he spent more than 30 years of his life working in constr...uction to give his family a better living. He worked hard and was always willing to give a helping hand. When he wasn’t working, you could find him at the Chumash Casino or taking a nap in the shade under a tree. Many knew that he enjoyed going to the casino and it was one of his favorite past times. He didn’t have a gambling problem, but he loved the thrill of playing. He also loved taking his children to the park and driving them around when they were young. He did everything for his kids and they were his pride and joy. He is survived by his five children, Bianca Reyes (22), Jonathan Reyes (20), Gonzalo Reyes Jr. (18), Emilie Reyes (16), and Cindy Reyes (14), and his wife Margarita Alvarez. We will all miss him very much, but we know that we have gained a guardian angel who will be there with us throughout our lives. Until we meet again. On behalf of our family, we appreciate the continued support, love and prayers from family and friends. Our father made an impact on each and every person he met and will forever be in our hearts. www.santapaulafuneralhome.com/obituary/gonzalo-flores

In Memory of Janice Zechner, March 25th, 1940 - August 10th, 2020: Janice Joann Zechner was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, on March 25th, 1940, to Rachel and Raymond Johnson, the youngest of six siblings. She grew up in the small town of Copeland in southwestern Kansas on a family farm. Her upbringing was filled with traditional values and the bonds of a close-knit community. A highlight of her senior year in high school was a group trip to the U.N. building in New York wh...ere she experienced the excitement of the big city. At age 19, she caught the eye of Rhonald Henry Rairdan as his crew was moving north with the annual wheat harvest. They dated and soon married. Rhonald entered the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne. During this time, they started a family with the birth of David in 1960, followed each by two years apart Brian, Charles (Corey), and Kimberly. Upon leaving military life and following job leads, the family moved to Los Angeles in 1966 and then to the Ojai Valley in 1968. In a sad turn of events, Janice became a single mother in those early years and proceeded to raise her young children with determination, love, and the help of friends and family while holding down a full-time job. Her steadfastness and commitment to her children during those difficult years were a testament to Janice’s strength of character and faith that will always be remembered. The loyal friendships forged in those times remain to this day. Janice married Carl Rudolf Zechner in 1976 and the family moved to Carl’s ranchette in the Upper Ojai Valley. The children spent their teen years there, enjoying rural life and forming life-long friendships along the way. As the nest emptied, Janice pursued her long-time goal of earning a university degree in nutrition. As the ranchette became too much to manage, Janice and Carl moved to Santa Paula in 1999. After many contented and eventful years together, Carl passed away in 2005. In her later years, Janice remained active in the local retirement community, stayed close to dear friends, helped raise seven grandchildren, and watched with happiness her own children succeed in life’s endeavors. Janice passed at home on August 9th, 2020 and is fondly remembered by family, friends and neighbors alike as a kind, witty, and humorous soul who greeted life with a smile and love in her heart. www.santapaulafuneralhome.com/obituary/janice-zechner
