PAL's Drive-Thru Halloween Event was a success! Over 140 cars came to enjoy a socially distanced and safe Halloween. Thank you to all our of sponsors and donors who made this event possible. PAL's Chris Carrey PAL Scholarship Awards Ceremony was a virtual success!!! Congratulations to our four scholarship recipients, Jesse Del Rio, Amy Tessema, Melisa Ramirez- Hernandez and Karen Morales. We are so proud of you. Congratulations again to our scholarship recipients, to date PAL has awarded 110 post high school education scholarships totaling over $280,000.

Since 2002, PAL has awarded 107 youth with over $260,000 in post high school education scholarship to attend colleges all over the nation. Last week PAL and VAP came together to celebrate our 2020 graduates! Congratulations to all of them for such a wonderful accomplishment.

LA County has greenlit the reopening of additional recreation and facilities, including public swimming pools. The City of Santa Monica will begin to reopen select facilities and programs with restrictions on a rolling basis beginning July 2020. We are working on facility improvements to ensure a safe reopening for the community and working to make necessary changes to programming due to modified operating hours, staff reductions, social distancing, and infection control guidance. Thank you all for your patience and understanding while we work to safely reopen Santa Monica. We are just as excited as you are about welcoming you back. Weeks ago PAL celebrated the bittersweet retirement of our programs supervisor, Karen Humphrey. Her leadership guided staff in providing exceptional programming to our youth for over 24 years. In honor of her retirement we had a car parade to celebrate this momentous occasion.

We’re heartbroken. Today in Santa Monica we physically pick up the pieces. Emotionally, along with our fellow Americans, we’re going to be picking up the pieces for quite some time. The actions of opportunistic criminals continue to dampen the voice of peaceful resistance here and across the country. Racism’s painful grip may seem to some like it waxes and wanes, for many however, it is and has been the painful reality of daily life for hundreds of years. The work that the S...anta Monica Police Activities League does to build trust between our public safety professionals and the youth in our community has never been more important. The hateful actions of some who have sworn to protect and serve have severely damaged the public trust. It is up to us as community members in partnership with the vast number of compassionate and good public servants to repair that trust and root out the evil among us. It's always wonderful to celebrate an early Thanksgiving dinner with all of our PAL families and this year was no different. We are truly thankful for all who attended and to the Huntley Hotel for providing an amazing feast. Wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We had a chance this week to put on some skates and hit the ice at the always fun, ICE Santa Monica. The kids had such an ice time!

Good Morning PAL Elementary School Parents! The PAL Youth Center will be open tomorrow, November 5, 2019 from 8:30 AM6:30 PM for the Elementary School Pupil-Free Day!

Greetings PAL Families and Supporters! The PAL Youth Center will close today, Wednesday, October 30, at 6:00 PM and reopen Thursday, October 31, at 5:00 PM for the Spooktacular Halloween Carnival! This is a FREE event for all kids and their families looking for a safe alternative on Halloween. There will be plenty of fun and candy for all!

Due to the local fires and school closures, PAL will be open from 8:30am until 8:30pm (10/28/19 only).
