Calling all announcers!! Are you interested in giving it a shot? You don't need to be perfect, just comfortable on the mic and able to help us out, for race nights specifically. Santa Maria BMX is an all volunteer-run organization so in order to add back racing (and coaching/clinics) we need your help!! The typical positions needed for a race night include:... Registration--moto building Gate operator Staging (1-2 people) Scoring (1-3) Turn officials (3) Announcer If you are interested in helping with any of these positions, please let us know so we can get you trained and and start setting up racing.

We have been spending countless hours trying to get us all back on track and we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!! We know you are all as anxious as we are to get back out there! We wanted to give you a heads up about our new protocols so you'll be ready as soon as we post our reopening date!... Please read ALL of the information below so you will be informed and ready to rejoin us! There will be some changes but we are confident we can make it work! We are required to abide by all county and state mandates. First and foremost: Stay home if you are ill. Social Distancing of 6ft is required Please remain with your own family group when not riding Face coverings: when outside your family area and your helmet comes off BEING CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS IS MANDATORY Participation is a choice and at your own risk, we are not responsible if you become ill or injured. All participants must have a current usabmx membership to ride on the track. All memberships need to be purchased, or renewed, through usabmx.com directly. We will have online sign-ups, and payments, for practice and racing. Please go to www.santamariabmx.com to sign up prior to arrival. Our parking area is the large area above our track area. Please park and walk north towards our entrance gates. We have a new office near the starting gate where you need to check in before heading to the track. No stopping or cutting on the track, or in the chutes, no congregating with members outside of your family group. Wash your hands often. Supervise children in the bathroom, and while on the grounds, to ensure they are following protocols. No sharing equipment No rental equipment is available at this time. All riders must have long sleeves, long pants, gloves and full-face helmet. If you haven't signed up for remind texts you can do so by texting @smbmx to 81010 And you will receive our text updates. If we are considerate and all do our part, we can keep our gates dropping! We look forward to seeing you all very soon!

After a lot of hardwork, waiting, weeding through all the ever-changing information from all the agencies involved and much deliberation, we have made the decision to cancel the upcoming State Qualifier and Gold Cup Race. At this time, we do not have a rescheduled date. This was a very hard decision for us to make. We appreciate your patience and understanding. ... Please know we are working hard to get back open as soon as everything is safe and ready to do so. Our goal is to reopen the track ready to ride, with all our safety protocols in place and completely approved by all agencies, in the hopes that we will be able to reopen one time, and remain open. We look forward to that being in the very near future. We recognized with California's current conditions and Santa Barbara County's current status, there was no way we could be ready or allowed to fully operate & enjoy our State and Gold Cup weekend. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more about moving forward with final prep days and reopening dates. Thank you again for your patience and support. We are still working on and off the track to be prepared to welcome everyone back, while we continue to monitor the ever changing health regulations in Santa Barbara County, and the State of California. In communication with USABMX today, we are 90% sure we will be postponing our State Qualifier Race currently scheduled for Saturday, August 8th. The date is quickly approaching and we are increasingly concerned about being able to open in time! Rest assured we will eagerly i...nform everyone immediately upon receiving any updates regarding a reopening date, and a rescheduled State Qualifier Race Date. All riders must be covered by a usabmx membership to ride on the track. The membership covers you to ride on any and all usabmx tracks throughout the USA (local track fees for practice & racing still apply and vary from track to track). We are still awaiting official confirmation of approval to reopen. While we wait we are working on improvements. Drainage and irrigation, remodeling the new office, and of course working to ensure all new requirements for safety protocols are in place including our new contact less registration system added to our website. We know everyone is anxious to ride and awaiting news about our State Race.... What we know now is that some tracks have rescheduled their races to our same weekend. That combined with how quickly it is approaching while we are still closed, has us hoping we can reschedule for a later date. If that is not possible, we are planning to run it as scheduled. This waiting game, and all the unknowns can be frustrating but we are trying to make the best of this time by tackling projects that will make the track even better! We all want to get back on track!! We are in contact with the Elks and USABMX. We need to be approved by the Elks, as our Landlords, the Health Department, and The County of Santa Barbara in order to reopen. We are at the discretion of the State, and County as to what type of business we are classified as, when we will be allowed to open, and what our new protocols will need to be. Please understand and be patient as we want to reopen and be out there just as badly as you! ...The safety of the riders and families needs to come first and we need to be in compliance in order for us to be approved and our insurance to be valid, so everything will run smoothly for everyone. That being said, there is A LOT to be done. We are more than happy to accept help to get it all done as we are all volunteers. Despite being closed these few last months, we still had financial responsibilities, so it has greatly affected the funds available to make the necessary changes to reopen. If you are willing to provide time, or supplies, have resources or connections or are willing to make phone calls to try to get donations for items needed, please check the list and let us know. When we schedule times where we can have people come out to help work on the track, please remember those will be work times where we will need to be mindful of social distancing guidelines. We will ask that they be adult only work times, as we are not cleared for reopening and cannot have riding or socializing. We are working hard behind the scenes to get everyone back out there.
