So excited...latest ghost story about two children who met in Mass at the Presido...one the son of a soldier (altar boy) his name was Sebastian and the other th...e daughter named Ana (sometimes known as Anita) of the once Commandante Jose De la Guerra and his wife, Dona Maria. The two children grew up and fell in love. They knew that their respective stations in life would forbade them to marry. Ana remained an obedient daughter and when a man named Alfred Robinson was sent from Boston to do direct trade in town was invited to the Casa Grande of the De la Guerra's he saw Ana and sought to marry her to solidify his position in Santa Barbara. He was a wealthy opportunist. He had to take her religion and became Jose Maria Alfredo. He married Ana and she soon gave birth to a child. Soon after the birth of the child he sent her to a convent in Boston. He said she was to stay there until she learned English. She was miserable in Boston being away from her family. Robinson killed her spirit. For 13 years he insisted she stay in Boston...She became frail in the harsh New England climate and died in her twenties of a broken-heart. Once she was out of his way he gained more and more power in Santa Barbara... He witnessed looks between Sebastian and ANA between them before their marriage and at the wedding. The good news is that the starcrossed lovers are starcrossed no more.. Time has proven that Sebastian and Ana had an "unearthly love..." which began in a small enchanted chapel and would not be broken regardless of time and space. They are seen dancing and running in the heavens and have been seen in the Presido chapel hand in hand...looking at the altar...and then at each other.
The Pope reminds us that caring for others includes being a steward of the earth.
