Support the Children's Creative Project by purchasing one of the new masks which feature chalk drawing from the Santa Barbara I Madonnari Festival. It's a great way to support one of our non-profit organizations and be masked up in style.

Today our Transitional Youth Services program hosted the first Youth Empowerment Summit with a tremendous line-up of speakers including a panel of students, Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Susan Salcido, Santa Barbara County Teacher of the Year Frank Koroshec, and Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries. What a wonderful opportunity for students, parents, educators, and service providers to learn more about how to best serve students experiencing homelessness or in foster care. Thank you to our Transitional Youth Services team for putting this amazing day together!

Don't miss the Walk for Wellness on Sunday! The funds raised go to support Welcome Every Baby - Family Connects, a program of SBCEO. WEB-FC is a free evidence-based, nurse home visitation program for all families with newborns in Santa Barbara that aren't already enrolled in a nurse home visitation program. It provides one to three postpartum nurse home visits within the first 3 months of a newborn's life regardless of income. Using a tested screening tool, the nurse measure...s newborn and maternal health and assesses strengths and needs to link the family to community resources. Research shows that 95 percent of all families have needs after the birth of a child. These needs are unique to each family. WEB-FC bridges the gap between parents and community resources and has been shown to improve family well-being, including reducing emergency medical care for infants and improving parent behavior and child care selection. You can participate in this walk in several ways: *Start walking! Pick your own time, path, and distance- anything goes! *Donate! *Tag @SantaBarbaraPEP (Facebook) or @sb_pep on Instagram. #pepwalk2020

Michele Frantz, Joe Nightingale Elementary School teacher and 2020 Santa Barbara County Teacher of the Year, shared a heartfelt, honest, and hopeful update with the County Board of Education today via Zoom. Reading the touching back-to-school letter she composed for her 1st-grade class, Michele described the perseverance, teamwork, flexibility, and courage the new school year would require of us all, built on a firm foundation of their very first lesson: kindness. We thank Michele for representing the excellence of all Santa Barbara County educators and their dedication to student well-being, learning, and success.
