Such a beautiful day in the harbor yesterday! Thank you to everyone who came out and made yesterday's pop-up such a fun and festive event. And, thank you to the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum for allowing us to partner with you and bring our sea glassy, beach arty, mermaid-y goodness to your front steps!

I'm hustling to prepare for my first holiday show (Saturday, Nov 30th at the MOXI Museum), so here's a super sweet video of a dolphin in the Santa Barbara Channel, being rescued by these good men on the Condor Express!

My husband and I are back from our European vacation, and we made a #beeline for the #beach to help reset our timeclocks. We walked up and down Hendry's, with our usual, quick pace but not so fast that I couldn't see this poor, striped soul, struggling in the foam. I scooped him up with a piece of plastic trash I'd found along the way (scroll through the pics to see some of the #seaglass I scooped up, too) and eventually dropped him off to dry his wings off and recuperate on ...some bright pink flowers, with his buddies. I don't know whether he made it, with the huge flecks of salt that continued clinging to his body and legs, as the seawater dried. It's possible we were too late to save him, but #honeybees are my namesake, so I had to try... He's just one of many like him I've scooped out of the water over the years. Ladybugs often seem to get lost at the water's edge, too. But, carrying him gently from one spot to another made me wonder, do others do this, too? What small beings have you lived to "let live?" #melissameanshoneybee #sweetbee #beesweet #savethebees #buzzbuzz @ Arroyo Burro Beach

Humans, humans everywhere... My husband and I walked around a volcanic lake in the rain today, and there was hardly anyone out, but we found plenty of evidence of people who'd been before us. Everything was too sharp to be called lake glass; just a bunch of broken shards from recent tourists and picnics past. I, of course, carried it back to my hotel trash so it wouldn't be a danger to anyone, only to watch someone flick their cigarette butt out the window of the car in front of us, on the drive back. #lesigh #2minutebeachclean #keepyourbuttswheretheybelong

We hiked around #SeteCidades, from #VistadoRei, in #SäoMiguel yesterday and literally danced in the rain, in front of a GIANT rainbow. (Pics still to come.) But, as always, I also had my eyes on the path ahead and collected bits of trash along the way. This bracelet was made entirely by trail trash. I found the orange cord first, then the white disc (with the #fish already drawn on and a pair of off-center holes drilled through it), with the red bead spotted last. By the time we got back to the car, I was turning this #trashtotreasure and will likely wear it for the remainder of our trip. It's the perfect reminder to take care of this beautiful island and to look beyond the rainbows and find beauty in everyday things.

This is an accurate visual depiction of both how cold it is in #FortBragg #SeaGlassBeach this time of year AND how #overthemoon excited I am to leave on our #Europeanvacation tomorrow!! Anyone who's been to or lives in #Portugal have any fab tips? Would love to hear your #travel stories!

Yesterday's photo was from my first trip to Fort Bragg's stunning #SeaGlassBeach. This one's from my last. My sister and I love taking #roadtrips together, and last January's trek up to #FortBragg was absolutely unforgettable. With some helpful tips from a few locals, we hiked into this private cove for the few hours the tide was low enough each day and marveled at the #treasure there. . #skyblue #blue #vintage #marble #seaglass #seaglassmarble #california #beachlife
