Hello Everyone, We wanted to share a few words to the public who are struggling with feelings of shame. Shame is experienced by all persons, but rarely talked about. Shame is self-doubt. Your inner critic. It’s that voice in your head that tells you you are not good enough. Shame reminds you of your mistakes and can make you feel like a failure. Overtime and untreated, shame can impact your confidence, self-esteem, and motivation to make changes in your life that you’ve be...en wanting to make. At its darkest, shame can make you isolate from friends and family. It can cause you to experience depression, anxiety, and self-loathing. One way to deal with shame is to realize you are not alone. People all over the world experience shame in their own way. Talking about what you're feeling with a trusted friend, family member or professional can help! People push through the Shame by learning to talk back to that inner critic. Overtime and with practice that critical voice can become less paralyzing. If you are experiencing Shame and having a hard time coping with it, a good book to read is Healing The Shame That Binds You by John Bradshaw. You can also reach out to us! Give us a call and we can provide referrals to a professional who can help!
Hi Everyone! We wanted to send out some inspiration on behalf of Santa Ana Community Counseling, to family members out there who have a loved one struggling with addiction. Over the last couple decades treatment for addiction has grown exponentially. Theres still a lot of work to be done in this area, but its comforting to know we are making it easier to get help for those who need it. Today however, Santa Ana Community Counseling wants to take a moment to provide some hope... for the families. The family is usually the one left picking up the peices when someone enters treatment; They are the ones who try to bring stability when someone is in active addiction. The family often experiences guilt or a feeling that they are responsible for the chaos brought on by addiction. The family can also have feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, and depression just as much as the addicted person. If you are a family member of someone struggling with addiction, just know you are not alone and there is hope! If you need a referral to a therapist or support groups for any of these issues dont hesitate to contact us at our website. Sincerely, The Clinicians at Santa Ana Community Counseling
