Once again, congratulations to the recipients of our Club scholarships! Del Mar High School: Dave Alvarez, Sofia Huerta. San Gabriel Academy: Holly Harrison. San Gabriel High School (AUSD): Megan Tieu. San Gabriel Mission High School: Samantha Gomez, Samantha Ochoa.... Gabrielino High School: Angela Jimenez, Jason Hoang, Gigi Ly, and Joanna Ngo. We had an exciting time at the San Gabriel Grapevine last Saturday with most of the recipients, their parents, and friends. Join the Kiwanis virtual Membership Meeting on Thursday, April 22nd at 12 noon. Just in time for CA Mosquito Awareness Week and Earth Day! Do mosquitoes bug you? You’ve heard the buzz about West Nile virus and how stagnant water is an open invitation to mosquitoes. But how does that impact San Gabriel and the region? Levy Sun, public information officer with the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control District, will take you on a journey behind the scenes to how your lo...cal mosquito control district tackles the quiet threat lurking in your backyards and patios. Participants will also learn how certain plants can actually attract mosquitoes. Levy will bust some common mosquito repellent myths so you not only save money, but also your sanity from pesky, biting mosquitoes. If you want to join the virtual meeting, email [email protected] to get the Zoom link. We look forward to seeing and hearing from everyone!

This is the final week of our collection of supplies for the preschoolers of La Casa. Please send in your donations before September 14th. La Casa de San Gabriel Community Center is planning to open its preschool on September 14, 2020, provided that all conditions are favorable for reopening. We can make a positive difference by helping to provide the support these families need to engage their children to learn! Please help provide the children with:... 1. Preschool pencils (2 to 3 per student) and a Jumbo pencil sharpener; 2. Jumbo crayons, packs of 8 (wider for easier grip by 3 to 5-year-old children); 3. Jumbo washable markers (packs of 8); 4. Preschool scissors; 5. Glue sticks (2 per child); (completed) 6. Elmer's 4-oz glue bottles (or comparable); 7. Construction paper (assorted packs of 25 sheets). We are trying to gather enough supplies for 50 children or more. Please select the item(s) you can help with and bring or send them to: La Casa Community Center 203 East Mission Road, San Gabriel, CA 91776 If you want a porch pick-up, please contact our club at [email protected]. Please remember that these supplies may also be purchased at Amazon.com. If you choose to shop there, Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to La Casa! Click the Amazon link below to go to smile.amazon.com and choose La Casa de San Gabriel as the non-profit you support! Lastly, we invite you to share this blast with other groups that you may wish to help. If we make over 50 backpacks we can help out other groups of children in need. We urge you to help. Just do what you can and together we will succeed! https://smile.amazon.com/gp/chpf/homepage?orig=%2F
