Did you know that your child can get free health services through Medi-Cal? If your child might be due for a health visit, we urge you to call your child’s Primary Care Physician (PCP). The PCP is the doctor, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant who is in charge of your child’s healthcare. The Primary Care Physician can tell you if your child needs vaccines to prevent serious sickness. Vaccines also help protect the health of our community, especially people who cann...ot get vaccines. These visits may also involve checking for lead poisoning and other problems. Children age 6 and under may need a test for lead in the blood, especially at 12 and 24 months. Checking for higher levels of lead could help to find sources of lead. This could also help protect others in the community.
