Head of School Mike Hanas got behind the camera on Wednesday to take some wonderful photos of our Kindergarten families at 250 Valenciamost for the FIRST time as SFFS parents and guardiansin order to enjoy Portfolio Day in person with their K scholars. This was such a special moment for these families, and we are so grateful that they were able to share it at school. A group of our 6th Grade biologists recently received a great honor from PlantingScience as winners of the organization's Star Project Awards. Our SFFS team experimented with different colored lightwaves and how these lightwaves effect germinationand their award was one of only 14 given out among the 995 teams who were nominated! Huge kudos to these students for their curiosity, creativity, and hard work! You can learn more about PlantingScience and the Star Project Awards here: https://plantingscience.org/psprojects/starprojectgallery #sffsmiddleschool #discoverwithfriends #thisisquakered

Friends, please extend a warm welcome to Allie, the new health coordinator at SFFS! Allie arrived on Monday and spent the week preparing our health office for the fast-approaching arrival of students, faculty, and staff on campus. Allie will manage our students' health records, provide care for sick students and staff, and administer bandaids for those bumps and bruises we sometimes acquire over the course of a busy day at Friends, and we feel lucky to have Allie as part of our community. You can read more about Allie in Mike's weekly update, which was sent out earlier today. #sffscommunity #takecarewithfriends
As part of the 7th Grade's collaborative and integrative unit on chemistry and the scientific method, as well as history, economics, and food insecurity in our community, 7th Grade families recently dropped off dozens of loaves of bread, freshly baked by our 7th Grade Friends, at GLIDE in downtown San Francisco, where Rabbi Michael Lezak (SFFS Parent '20) was there to accept the delivery, which will feed hundreds of GLIDE clients. We hope this awesome partnership can continue! #thisisquakered #letyourlifespeak #sffsmiddleschool #integrativeeducation
Our Development Office recently made magnets for our wonderful GrandFriends and laptop stickers for our inspiring alums as small tokens of our love and care for these important members of our community. We miss you! #sffscommunity #sffsalumni #sffsgrandfriends
The Gudiboina-Gupta Family collaborated with Middle School Art Teacher Gabby Miller and her nieces to send postcards to young voters in swing states, complete with personal notes asking people to register and make their voice heard, as part of Sunrise Movement Bay Area. #YourVoteIsYourVoice #letyourlifespeak #sffscommunity
Today at Assembly, Lower School faculty introduced us to their beloved pets (some furry, some scaly); Marina read her favorite book from growing up, One Monster After Another, by Mercer Mayer; and a good time was had by all.
The SFFS Board of Trustees recently met via Zoom for their annual fall retreat, during which they moved forward our community's Equity & Inclusivity work and offered support to the administration as we continue onward with our reopening plans. We are so grateful to have such thoughtful and caring community stewards in our corner! #sffsboard #sffscommunity

There are so many incredible people doing inspiring work in the San Francisco community these days in the face of unprecedented challenges, including COVID-19, financial strains, and food insecurity. The folks are Dine11 SF are among those forging ahead, continuing to connect nutritious, delicious meals from beloved local restaurants with those in need of a nourishing meal. Founded by four SFFS moms, many of our alums are helping out, as well, delivering meals (like Ella SFFS '15), helping with social media and web outreach, and more. To learn more about this organization and how you can support their work, please visit https://dine11.org/sf/ Dine11 ****** #sffscommunity #letyourlifespeak #sffsalumni
