People have been cooking at home a lot more due to the pandemicand as a result, a lot more fats, oils, and grease are being washed down kitchen drains. Don't do it!! It's bad for pipes and really bad for the Bay, as fat clogs cause sewage backups. Instead of washing leftover fats and grease down the drain, "people should be wiping down greasy pans with paper towels and then throwing the paper towels in the compost or the trash," and taking larger quantities to a recycling facility, says Baykeeper Attorney Nicole Sasaki via the Richmond Pulse

An example of how local action can do good for the whole country: our new agreement with the US Coast Guard will curtail water pollution from the agency's facilities & equipment nationwide! "I wish every party we took to court was as willing to do the right thing as the Coast Guard," says Baykeeper Staff Attorney Nicole Sasaki, "the Coast Guard immediately acknowledged it needed to do better, and their actions showed they were up to the task. I hope this agreement can serve as an inspiration for other local polluters to do what's right." https://baykeeper.org//breaking-news-baykeeper-scores-nati
