Taking pre-orders for these great hot/cold packs! Great for treating sore muscles, injuries, promoting circulation, decreasing tension and the effects of stress. Use it to warm your feet, bed or even your pet's bed. It's versatile as a hot AND cold pack. Use it out of the freezer for lasting cold on sprains, bruises and to help reduce swelling. I'm only making about a dozen so let me know if you would like to reserve one. May 2021 be a year of health and wellness!

The impact of the position of the head on the functioning of the human body: a 2020 systematic review The head is an important element of the biokinetic chain. ...Under physiological conditions, it should extend along the midline of the body. Due to its location and the fact that it constitutes approx. 6% of the total body weight, many authors believe it has a significant impact on its functioning. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic literature search and to synthesize the evidence of the impact of the head posture on the functioning of the human body. A systematic review was conducted within 3 databases: PubMed, Medline OVID, and Ebsco, using the following terms: "forward head," "posture", "position," and "neck." For the analysis, scientific articles published after 2013 were selected. A total of 16 studies matched the inclusion criteria of this systematic review. Their results have proven that the position of the head has a significant effect on the human body. Research findings show that abnormal head position changes affect muscle activity, proprioception, the pattern of breathing and neck pain. This is the first systematic review of the relationship between the head posture, and the functioning of the human body. The results of this study seem to be promising if used in therapeutic practice. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32713947/

Hello, I wanted to write and give you an update on the status of my massage and bodywork practice in light of COVID-19. At this time, the Stay At Home order remains in place and as a Stage 3 (high risk) business, I am not yet authorized to open and resume massage services. I am very sorry to have to turn away appointments at this time. However I will continue to wait until it's safe to resume, for both you and I. I certainly miss practicing and participating in your health an...Continue reading

Myofascial Connection of the Week: Tight Hams and Your Pelvis. Are you pelvis dominant or lumbar dominant? Hi Folks,... I wanted to share a couple of articles from the recent science literature relating to how tight hamstrings affect your pelvis and lumbar spine. The first one discusses spino-pelvic rhythm in relation to the hamstrings. Spino-pelvic rhythm is how the pelvis and lumbar spine move in relation to each other. These researchers investigated forward bends (essentially Uttanasana) in subjects with tight hamstrings vs flexible hams. What they found was: "The lumbo-pelvic-rhythm comprises 2 patternslumbar dominant and pelvis dominant. In flexible subjects, pelvis movement was dominant. In conclusion, improving tight hamstrings may reduce lumbar loading thereby reducing low back pain." Another article looked at the effect of tight hams on lumbo-pelvic rhythm in stoop lifting. What they found was: "After hamstring-stretching exercises, there was a significant increase in hip flexion and decreases in both lumbar flexion and the lumbar/hip flexion ratio during the preparation phase of stoop lifting." Here's a link to the article: "Spino-pelvic-rhythm with forward trunk bending in normal subjects without low back pain." http://goo.gl/HNZvZq Here's a link to the article: "Acute effects of hamstring-stretching exercises on the kinematics of the lumbar spine and hip during stoop lifting." http://goo.gl/IixTFF So, chime in with your favorite stretch for the hamstrings in the comments below... Despite the misleading title a fairly balanced article. Leans a bit to the Western scientific point of view but worth a read.
