THANK YOU! To help our seniors feel connected to their community this Valentine's Day, the Recreation Division created free valentine kits. Staff put together and gave out over 130 kits, and we received over 180 cards back! Today, completed cards will be given out to Senior Center members participating in the senior lunch program. We received so many that each member picking up or having their meal delivered will receive a special Valentine's Day card.... We are so appreciative of the community response and are excited to be able to give something special to our seniors this Valentine's Day. Have a safe and happy Valentine's Day!

Bring joy to a senior during Valentine's Day by decorating a Valentine's Day Card. Register online at sanbruno.ca.gov/recsignup (code # 3511.101) to pick up a FREE themed supply kit to create your holiday card. Return your decorated valentine to the Recreation Center by Monday, February 8, 2021. Cards will delivered to seniors Friday, February 12, 2021. Please do not seal envelope. Remember to wash hands before making your card to help keep our seniors safe.

It's time to say goodbye to Captain Jack Marrow. His month in San Bruno is ending, and soon he'll be gone until next October. His final place to visit was the Jinxed Joyride event last night at the Recreation Division's drive-thru trick-or-treat booth. He and his ragtag bunch of misfits gave out tricks and treats to over 120 cars, totaling over 400 participants! Thank you to Captain Jack for spending the month with us, and everyone who cracked his clues to find him this Halloween season.

Clue #1: He might be used to the high seas, but today he's sailing through crystal clear springs to Oak Island. Clue #2: This new land is 31 acres and is home to prehistoric dinosaurs. Clue #3: While Captain Jack was exploring, he found a group of Warriors near a pool of water.... If you guessed San Bruno City Park,you were right! Captain Jack is spending the last few days of October in the park participating in the City Park Silly Challenge. If you've participated, make sure to send Captain Jack your silly photos. Captain Jack sailed through Crystal Springs Avenue and Oak Avenue, the location of San Bruno City Park. (clue #1) San Bruno City Park is 31 acres (WOW) and you can find a big purple dinosaur at the large playground. And great news...playgrounds are now open! (clue #2) The Recreation Center Gym (next to the San Bruno Park Pool) was once a practice location for the Golden State Warriors, and was also used in an Under Armour commercial featuring Stephen Curry in 2018.
