By member request, we've added a video to the San Diego Archers web page, to better explain what to do at the tournament registration table before starting your shoot. https://sandiegoarchers.com/registration
Replaced the old pay-online sticker today.
Woodworker artisans in the house? The two Rube Powell related signs at the Balboa Park archery range, along with the 8'x4' fence banner boards all need some serious TLC. Does anyone in the club have thoughts on how might be available to assist in some restoration work on the two signs (one outside the gate and one inside)?
This Sunday's Unmarked 3D Round is a Go! But everything has changed. Due to current San Diego City requirements, SDA tournaments are now by appointment only.... This is our first online registration and scheduled shoot times event, so please be kind as we work out the new system. See https://sandiegoarchers.com/registration Please review the new San Diego Archers Tournaments Online guide (link above), and post your questions about the new tournament requirements in this forum. Please help us pass the word that "crossbows" are not allowed or may be shot on either the Balboa Park Rube Powell Range or the Morley Field Archery Range. Both archery ranges were designed for archery specific "bow and arrow" use only. For this reason, crossbows, javelins, throwing knives, axes, and slingshots, for example, are not allowed on either range... Why not crossbows? While we appreciate that crossbows are "archery like", please consider that crossbows typically shoot bolts at 350-450 feet per second (compared to a compound bow velocity of between 200-330 feet per second). This additional velocity translates into longer ranges, flatter trajectories, and harder-hitting more potentially damaging "bolts". In Southern California, there are still a good number of archery tournaments running. One of the more regular tournaments, with a strong hunting focus, is run b...y the Lemon Grove Gun Club, in Alpine California. See the photo album of the event at https://photos.app.goo.gl/buiqbYXjdHgZzShLA Below is a short video and picture of a shot made by Jim Walker from the San Diego Archers Club this past Saturday. He's shooting a Hoyt Satori riser with Border Archery Hex 6.6H limbs at 40# draw. "The impossible shot" (at 55 yards). While the San Diego Archers club is not currently able to sponsor tournaments at either of our two ranges in San Diego, there are quite a few archery tournaments options in California. Don't lose your edge... See the CBH / SAA website for alternate tournaments events dates:... https://www.cbhsaa.net/EventCalendar
