He couldn’t contain his excitement when I got an interview for a job at the same hospital so much that he scoped out where my interview would be held so I wouldn’t get lost trying to find the room. My dad came home and asked if I’d be embarrassed if people knew my dad cleaned the rooms where I worked as a case manager. I still remember the look in his eyes when I said, No, I already told most of my department that my dad works in EVS. It’s his hard work that enables me to wear this white coat every day. He laughed and said, See, I didn’t think so. But I knew he questioned it, even if just for a second. What drew you to nursing? In high school, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. When she was in the hospital, I saw the impact the nurses made. They spent the time to get to know her as more than just a patient. They comforted her throughout her treatment and provided support to our family.
