As of August 2nd we have been closed down for all indoor services by San Mateo County. We are currently investigating realistic outdoor options. But I find myself feeling very discouraged and discriminated against. All salons in other states are allowed to provide indoor services. Why give us all these new guidelines and protocols if you don’t believe they work. I am asking for your help to address the San Mateo county health department and governor newsom to stop bankrupting the salon industry. Let us do what we love safely and indoors.

My husband and I love our beautiful baby boy more than anything. I feel thankful to get to be a mom. I also love my job! Being a hairstylist and salon owner has been my dream come true. Today we received news that one of the last counties open for hair services San Mateo are forcing us to... close yet again. After already having to endure 3 months of a shut down. I feel like these closures are completely unnecessary. Salons and hairstylists are not the problem. Why aren’t these people having covid parties being fined or given any consequences for not caring about their communities at large? We love our clients and we protect them. Small businesses should not being paying the price for other people’s reckless actions. Please stop this madness. Let us do what we love in our clean safe environments. Don’t make us do hair outside where we have no control over people who pass by us (those who refuse to wear masks) you’re putting us more at risk. California is discriminating against hair salons. All other states are allowing hair salons to be open. You gave us safety guidelines to follow and we did. What’s our reward? To give us another test... Create an outdoor operation. Why? We are already paying outrageously high rents in California to lease a beautiful salon space we cannot use.
