OC fan tutte's Briella will be sung by Broadway star Ali Ewoldt! Tickets on sale now through https://linktr.ee/salastinala or at www.salastina.org Prepare to get your feathers delightfully ruffled! OC fan tutte librettist Vid Guerrerio brings much-needed levity to today's Culture Wars by ingeniously replacing Cosi's 18th-century misogyny with issues of gender equality and marriage rights. Born outside Chicago and raised 45 minutes north of New York City in the small ...town of Pleasantville, Ali has loved performing for as long as she can remember. She made her Broadway debut as Cosette in the 1st Broadway Revival of Les Miserables and starred as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway for over two years. Ali has starred as Maria in the 1st National Tour of West Side Story directed by Arthur Laurents and David Saint and played Luisa in the The Fantasticks Off-Broadway, the world’s longest running musical. She has been featured on The Michael J. Fox Show, the short film Yield and DRAMA: The Webseries and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Town Hall, and across the country and world! Ali also has a BA in Psychology from Yale University, which has proved surprisingly relevant to her career.

We thought it was good timing to share the video of this beautiful piece Resident Violist Meredith Crawford wrote, with "True Colors" as its main theme. We found it consoling and relevant to remote-record during this emotionally-charged, socially-distant, politically-fraught time. Join Salastina next Tuesday for a very special Happy Hour spotlighting Meredith Crawford. Drop by for some fun conversation, spooky music, and festive company. We think the time is right for some thoroughly modern Mozart! Salastina seeks $50,000 in support of our 2021/2022 season production of OC fan tutte, a modern, English adaptation of Mozart’s comic opera Così. https://www.salastina.org/commission-your-own-aria In recent years, we've all watched and participated in friction between the political right and left. The heat will only intensify in the months to come, both leading up to and following the U.S. presidential electio...n. OC fan tutte explores this friction with both humor and compassion. In its gentle satire, it points out that we all fall victim to our own self-righteousness. Our society is consumed with issues of equity: for women, for the LGBTQ community, for BIPOC, for marriage rights, and beyond. We're well into a post-#metoo era. We are still reeling from the fall-out and attempting to make sense of it all. OC fan tutte serves this meaning-making process. The time is right for this piece to get this makeover. The time is right for Salastina, too. We're a small, locally-grown chamber music series with big ambitions. Producing this piece alone is a big win for us. Doing it right will put us on the map as an organization nationwide. COVID curtailed the June 5 - 7, 2020 performance dates we’d set early in 2019. As luck would have it, this piece takes place primarily in an outdoor mall. Should the pandemic make indoor performance inadvisable during the 2021/2022 season, we intend to produce it outdoors. Supporting this premiere is also a way to express and fulfill your hope for the return of live performance in the not-too-distant future.
