Blessing of the Blue Corn Blue Corn is sacred to the indigenous peoples of this land. In ceremonies and offerings to our Mother Earth, cornmeal is given back with prayers similar to this:... In beauty I walk With beauty before me With beauty behind me With beauty above me with beauty below me In beauty it is finished. Beth has been a beekeeper and organic farmer in New Mexico for over 30 years on Piro Pueblo ancestral land. She loves planting, growing food, sharing, saving seeds, and making candles. She makes this pure beeswax "blue corn" candle to honor the sacred traditions of her neighbors. With your purchase of a blue corn candle in August, a donation will be made to Intertribal Friendship House in Oakland SHOWN: beeswax blue corn candle ; blue corn scrub soap PHOTOS: Every year, a pair of mallard ducks returns to this very same spot in the irrigation ditch on Beth's farm to hatch their ducklings. Beth has seen the same pair for over 30 years. Nature giving us signs of hope. A Visitation Long have I waited for your coming home to me and living deeply our new life. * The smile of a baby, a close whoosh of a bird's wing, a deeply sublime passage of music, a pebble in an unlikely place. Perhaps these are visitations. Visitations have power. They can break open the heart, shift a long-held belief, carry us in a new direction. A magical touch, a brush with the energy of another world. Remember? * * *...Continue reading

Rev. Dr. William J Barber delivered this sermon today, May 31, 2020. It is a message from the heart to the heart, and so we pass it along you. If you have time to listen, please do. The video is about an hour long. "A Pastoral Letter to the Nation" https://tinyurl.com/ycluuy6s... (an excerpt): "If we take time to listen to this nation’s wounds, they tell us where to look for hope. The hope is in the mourning and the screams, which make us want to rush from this place. There is a sense in which, right now, we must refuse to be comforted too quickly. Only if these screams and tears and protests shake the very conscience of this nationand until there is real political and judicial repentancecan we hope for a better society on the other side of this."
