Problems with food - too much or too little - are usually caused by events or people. Those become powerful beliefs that drive habits and behavior. Change the beliefs and you change the habits and behavior. Don't change the beliefs, and the habits and behavior usually come back (which explains why diets mostly don't work in the long term).
