All my Realtor and Investor Friends need to follow this link and send a letter like this to your state representatives. http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/ ...Eviction Moratorium I am writing to you today to oppose any type of extension to the Covid 19 eviction moratorium. As a real estate professional, I believe that these moratoriums have went on way too long. There is little evidence that I can find that indicates that there are any substantial number of people who are unable to pay their rent due to a Covid job loss. For every case of legitimate hardship, I could tell you about 3-5 cases of tenants taking advantage of the laxness of the system to not pay rent even when they are employed and able to pay rent. I see now hiring signs everywhere I look. If people want to work, there are plenty of jobs available. I want to remind you that despite what many politicians believe most landlords are not rich. I have had several of my clients who are senior citizens on a fixed income with a few rentals that have had tenants simply choose not to pay even though they are working. This forces these landlords to pay mortgages and utilities even when they are not receiving their rent. The general fund of the State of California relies on a healthy tax base. In recent years it seems that the legislature has become increasingly hostile towards landlords. All these policies will in the long run drive down real estate prices and when and if that happens the general fund will be in trouble again. Let us make sure that the rights of all Californians are being protected not just the tenants. It is time to let the eviction moratorium expire!
