Did you know that there are over 55,000 children in foster care in California, and almost 2,000 of those children are in our County's dependency system? Do you think we can provide them all with a CASA volunteer someday? Comment YES below if you think we can do this together. #BeACASA #CASAsChangeLives #CASAvolunteer #HelpAFosterChild #strongertogether #didyouknow #themoreyouknow #factoftheday #knowledgeispower

We’d like to start off the week saying thank you for stopping by our page. Awareness is so valuable, and by engaging with our social media, commenting and sharing, you’re helping us spread our mission and find CASA volunteers. So thanks againwe could not do this without your help! #HelpAFosterChild #CASAsChangeLives #iamforthechild #BeACASA #spreadtheword

Here is a quote to start your Saturday off inspired: "I know it's important for him to be with his brother, so I've always advocated to keep them together. After his second placement, I asked him how he was doing and he said, 'I have my stuff and I have my brother. That's all I need.' It brings tears to my eyes whenever I think about it because his childhood is so different than most children's." #childadvocate #CASAvolunteer #betheone #bethechange #makeadifference #communitylove #nonprofit #iamforthechild #CASAsChangeLives #HelpAFosterChild #makeanimpact

Here is another quote from a CASA volunteer who advocates for an older foster youth: A memory that especially stands out is when we went to San Francisco together. We tried new things and had new experiences. It was just a really fun day to share. #sanfrancisco #makingmemories #trynewthings #newexperiences #makelifefun #makenewmemories #haveagreatday

Earlier this week we talked about some of the things that CASA volunteers do with older youth. Here is a more light-hearted quote from a local volunteer. He asked me if I would go to a concert with him. It was the middle of the summer and at least 100 degrees. We watched artists like Ludacris, Lil Uzi, and Post Malone. I tell all my friends that I got to scratch seeing a rap concert off my bucket list! #bucketlist #concert #ludacris #liluzi #postmalone #CASAvolunteers #makememories #trynewthings #seetheworld #seenewthings

Today is officially the one year anniversary of our SpokesKid campaign. Do you remember these videos that aired on local Comcast stations? Thank you for sharing and helping us spread the word about CASA throughout this campaign. Knowledge is the first step to everything after all, you can’t become a CASA Volunteer until you know that the program exists. #HelpAFosterChild #CASAvolunteer #volunteerappreciation #morethanamentor #allchildrenmatter #fosterchild #makingadifference #achildisachild

It’s election day! Remember when you were 18, how exciting it was to vote and be an official adult? For kids in foster care, these feelings can be quite different. Sometimes, turning 18 can be met with fear and loneliness. We are so grateful that in California, a foster youth may choose to extend their time in the system until they turn 21. If you missed yesterday’s post on that topic be sure to take a look! #election #electionday #nov3 #november3 #fosterkids #fosteryouth #vote #BeAVoice #california #dependencysystem

On the eve of the election , emotions are high. The truth is, policies can make a huge difference. We’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of a policy that made a huge difference in California. AB 12 allows foster children who are 18 to stay in the system until they are 21 as transitional aged foster youth. This helps them to have guidance and resources as they step out on their own for the first time and face challenges like graduating high school, finding housi...ng, and more. If a child opts into this program, they also remain eligible for a CASA Volunteer until they are 21 years old. The following quote from a local volunteer shows how valuable that is: I really enjoyed exposing my teenage CASA match to new things and teaching her life skills. I taught her how to read a bus schedule and rode her route with her for the first time so she wouldn't be intimidated by public transportation. I helped her open her first checking and savings accounts and taught her how to use an ATM. It's so satisfying to know that you've done your best to help a child or youth who needs support. #election #2020election #vote #MakeADifference #BeAVoice #UseYourVoice #fosteryouth #transitionalagedfosteryouth #fosterkids #fostercare #fostercaresystem #valuable #challenges See more
