#Repost @sacpolice Twenty-three years ago today, Officer Emily Morgenroth lost her life in the line of duty. On October 17, 1997, 26-year-old Officer Morgenroth was responding to assist on a stolen vehicle call. Enroute to the call, her patrol car collided with a pick-up truck at Marysville Boulevard and Del Paso Boulevard. Officer Morgenroth was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive the collision. A two-year veteran of the police department, Officer Morgenroth was the first female officer to be killed in the line of duty in the history of the Sacramento Police Department. Emily you have not been forgotten. #inthelineofduty #sacpd #service #sacrifice #sacramento #police #lawenforcement

Assulting an officer is not considered violent in California. Prop 20 would change that. Thank you for your continued support, Sacramento. #yesonprop20

From one of our officers today and wanted to share: This little boy’s basketball was accidentally ran over this morning during a call for service. When I had time, I went to Target and got him a new one! He is such a sweet kid. #communityrelations #bethechangeyouwanttosee

This is another reminder of how dangerous the job is as a police officer. We’re thankful that no officers were injured during this incident.

Today, the Measure U Committee will be reporting to the City Council with a proposal to immediately slash the Police and Fire Department Budgets by $15 Million as well as even larger cuts in the future. The voters approved Measure U to restore and maintain public safety resources to keep our city safe. These cuts will devastate our city’s public safety and destroy the progress our two departments have made over the past ten years. Please read the attached letter The SPOA and Firefighters Local 552 jointly submitted to the council in response to this proposal.
