In a virtual ceremony today, we honored nearly 50 students from multiple school sites with high school diplomas in a Community Schools Program graduation. All of the graduates earned diplomas through our Senior Extension Program. We launched the program in 2016 to re-engage students in jeopardy of dropping out of high school, and to help those who have been out of school and want to return to complete diploma requirements. County Superintendent Dave Gordon hopes you will join him in the effort to Turn Sacramento County Orange! Right now, we are in the Red Tier of the state’s COVID test positivity system. Getting to the Orange Tier would allow schools to reopen and most businesses to resume substantial activities. We can get to the orange tier by Halloween by working together: wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, avoiding large indoor gatherings.

SCOE is joining the effort to turn Sacramento County Orange by Halloween! What does that mean? It means we're trying to lower our positivity rate and the number of daily COVID cases so we can move into a less restrictive tier of the State's re-opening blueprint! We are currently in the red tier and need your help to keep improving! Moving into the orange tier would let businesses increase activities and have service more patrons. So, please wear your face coverings, maintain social distance, and no indoor gatherings.
