At Ryd, we are taking this health crises seriously, as our grandmother was left an orphan in the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, and we have friends and relatives in hard-hit Italy. Yesterday Gov. Newsom issued a stay home order which we are honoring. When we do re-open, you can bet each bike will be sanitized completely before and after each rider. Biking is the perfect social distance activity as the space of the bike frame prevents close contact, and the fresh air does wonders.... But here at Ryd, we are going to throw in a little extra. This virus, like others, dies at high heat, and we are certainly seeing less transmission in hot climates. Beginning in April, temps start to climb into the 70s and end near 80s by the end of the month. But we are going to heat it up even more by offering free sessions outdoors in front of an infrared light that gets hotter than 400 degrees Fahrenheit - consider it a prophylactic if you will. The range that near infrared light penetrates ranges from centimeters to inches depending on many factors. The sinuses lie fairly close to the surface of the body, and here at the Ryd family we've been doing daily sessions with infrared aimed at sinus and lungs. We make no guarantees or medical claims, but will post different studies for your own research in the comments below. At the bare minimum, red light and infrared therapy FEELS amazingly good, and thus tamps down our nervous system's fight or flight response under stress, and stimulates our parasympathetic nervous system which is the one responsible for healing and immune response. Imagine sitting in front of a soothing fire and how relaxed and wonderful you feel. We are aiming to be open by April with the start of warmer weather, let us know if you want to make a reservation before then. And if you don't want to wait to start infrared therapy, for about $20 you can have a bulb delivered free to your home - Therabulb is independently tested and verified. If you're going for the higher wattages make sure your lamp is rated for it or just get their small LED one which only draws 5 watts and can be used in any lamp.
