I find my emotions are running raw right now - how are you doing? When the news of Ruth Bader Ginsberg's passing came yesterday, it literally knocked me over wi...th disbelief and sadness. From what I am seeing online, this is very much a shared experience. A couple hours after I started organizing and reaching out to folks last night, Women's March came out with their info that they were encouraging organizers to create vigils all across the nation tonight. If you feel up to it reach out to people you know around the US and have them look for similar events in their community. There are many reasons why people will not be in attendance tonight - I hope everyone finds their own way to grieve and find comfort. Know that those of who do attend are holding everyone in our hearts. The intention with this vigil was to create an opportunity for our community to honor Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, grieve, connect, and find hope in our loss. RBG's famous and history altering dissents not only found hope in loss but forged hope for the future. We are coming together to act out our dissent of what feels like an almost insurmountable loss. Events pages are not where I usually speak personally but this loss is personal for all of us. Please feel free to share here if that is comfortable for you. Let's find hope in each other tonight with the goal of using it to protect our courts, our country and ourselves.
