Today our Santa Rosa pub brewer, Sean, brewed our version of the CCBA Brewers Collaboration beer! This beer is a collaborative effort which celebrates and benefits the CCBA, our state trade association that protects and supports craft brewers in California. I recently had the honor of serving on the CCBA Board for 9 years ,so this collaboration has a particularly special meaning to me! Participating breweries will brew a style of their choosing, then donate funds to the CCBA. Our CCBA Brewers Collaboration beer is a West Coast IPA made with of Idaho 7, Strata, Azacca and Elixir hops.It will be available in cans and on draft at the pubs late July! Today we brewed Janet’s Brown Ale in honor and memory of our friend Mike Tasty McDole. This is our 9th batch of Janet’s since 2009, Tasty’s very own award-winning homebrew recipe. This batch is the first one brewed in Windsor and is currently fermenting in an open-top fermenter. It will be released on draft and in cans with Tasty’s signature cartoon image sometime next month! This week we made a few improvements to our outdoor dining experience in Windsor with new tables and chairs, permanent wind-proof event tents, and festive lighting! Yesterday our dear friend and homebrew icon Mike Tasty McDole @tastymcd left this world after a long and valiant battle with cancer. The entire RRBC family and craft beer community is mourning his loss today. Vinnie and I feel blessed and fortunate to have had so many fond memories with Tasty over our many years of friendship. In 2014, we travelled to Australia together for the Australian National Homebrew Conference. Although Vinnie was the keynote, Tasty was the real roc...k star! In 2009, we brewed the first collaboration of many batches of Janet’s Brown Ale, Tasty’s homebrew recipe named for his late wife. In honor of Tasty and his incredible contributions to and support of our craft beer community, we are brewing Janet’s Brown Ale next week in Windsor which will be fermented in an open-top fermenter, something we think he would love! 100% of the proceeds will be donated to a non-profit cancer foundation. We are planning to reopen both pubs tomorrow just in time to release HopTime Harvest Ale 2020 made with 100% Sonoma grown hops! It will be available on tap and in cans at both breweries. This afternoon some of the Sonoma County fire evacuation zones were downgraded and most of our employees were able to return home. Fingers crossed conditions stay favorable for firefighters to get a handle on the #glassfire . Well, here we go again. THREE new wildfires started yesterday in Napa County, one of which is now burning in East Santa Rosa in Rincon Valley, Oakmont, and Annadel State Park areas. Several of our employees have evacuated or are preparing to evacuate. But we are a resilient bunch and are planning to keep the Santa Rosa pub open for takeout only at least during lunchtime. Of course, there is no outdoor dining anywhere today because it is raining ash. Windsor will remain CLOSED... today. Here are some pix from the nearby #shadyfire : the first pic I took last night from our house in NW Santa Rosa. The second two were taken by an employee evacuating last night. The last two were taken this morning by an employee who drove east from her house in Fountaingrove.
