Supragingival dentistry seems like it could be... exactly what I need, an escape route of sorts...let me explain. In dentistry and in life, I tend to believe unless it’s a struggle, it doesn’t count...it wasn’t worth it or valid enough, I didn’t do my job/I took the easy route because I didn’t work hard enough. I’m not sure if this originated from dental school where I struggled in the beginning to survive, or the general cultural mantra of anything worth fighting for must be difficult. This sets dentists up for a lot of potentially needless suffering / clinical difficulty. The principles outlined in supragingival/biomimetics seem to diametrically oppose this philosophy...it not only promotes better biologic and clinical outcomes, but may very well be easier in nature to perform than traditional dentistry. Better outcomes for patients and simpler to execute, after an initial training period? Sign me up. Excited for this journey. See more
