This was the Glass Makers Lunch 2016 . Some of the best Makers of glass going back to 1960's and a few kinda newish ones who are fast passing us by . Although w...ith out these fine glass makers would the newer ones be able to get where they are? Each generation builds a stair for those following to step up on and build the next step . Each maker would and probably thinks they did it ALL on there own , and did some. We all stand on someone else's shoulders to be able to reach higher. I think it's important to remember this fact. We had a 2017 lunch and we had a good time and we all honored John Lewis- with the award of MASTER GLASS MAKER . Our lunches are for us to get together and enjoy each other's accomplishments and success . We heard from David Ruth and his amazing project he's been working on, THE WALL . We heard from David Hopper and his work creating " Paradise Pictures" very cool - . Mary B White told us about her project in San Jose - she always takes on these amazing different projects - Avery amazing person. More to come ! Here we are now 10-12-2020 -hope you get out and vote - from my very small perspective it a vote for the soul of the country or the wallet . Yes I believe we need to redirect which road we choose . History has shown us over and over- like Rome in it day and all the other supposedly civil empires- what happens when it’s all about the few and money . A nation that struggles to have a heart is a Constant challenge. Ok now that the glass world has shrunk by at least 3/4 - both collectors and makers it seems like it went by so so fast. I don’t know about you- looking back what do you think ? Would you have wanted to change any thing - yes I sure would - but youth enjoys being stupid . Although I knew I That didn’t know anything , I wish there were more people around me at the time that I could reach out to that were wise and knowledgeable that could help direct me. At a few weeks away from 73 - with many surgery’s behind me and recovering from my latest bike accident- it seems that wisdom comes from both life lived and survived and adventures ( mistakes-screw-ups) that can be our greatest educational moments, if we CHOOSE to learn the lesson. I am thickheaded enough that it took me many repetitive mistakes to finally realize the lesson that was repetitively put in front of me. Somehow I was lucky enough to get to this point to learn to a degree the value in the beauty of life. It never was what I thought it was. I hope you all have had that most marvelous experience. Here’s to you all as we get older with our future turning to sand and soda ash did you win the race what price did you get.? Was it spiritual was it financial which one won the race? See more

Such a great 4 days of seeing all the luminescent luminaries who have shaped the glass world since those first seminars in 1962.
