In a previous episode of New Therapist FAQ regarding networking w/ pastors, Dr. Ben Shin and I discussed the benefits of meeting with pastors to increase our client referral base while providing psychoeducation to churches. We recently held a meet & greet online and it was really enjoyable! Here's the video if you'd like to watch

It’s pure treasure when someone is able to share about the horrors of infidelity, and the tough road to reconciliation.

So dope talking with Tim St. John of SOLA Network about things we're both passionate about, and that need more airtime in the church. Thanks Tim for being easy to talk to and for your infectious love for the church

If you have been betrayed, anger may be one of your strongest emotions, and naturally so. This being said, do all that you can to prevent your anger from turning into violence. Innocent children may get hurt in the process. You might get locked into jail. These are just a few horrible consequences of rage. Instead, process your anger with a trusted friend, therapist or group. Develop strategies to anchor yourself so that you can make the wisest decisions possible. Your healthy future depends on wise choices today.

Wherever you are in your sexual addiction journey, get a good book on sexual addiction and read one paragraph a day. Let the words sink in. Let the words soak. Your brain needs it. Daily. ... You can start with Out of the Shadows by Patrick Carnes, the pioneer of sex addiction research.

Have you ever done a Megan's Law search for sex offenders in your area? What do these little colored flags mean? Are we surrounded by vile criminals? I talk to sex offender specialist Charla Thorstad in episode 16 of SA speakeasy to get some clarification. https://podcasts.apple.com//ep-16-sex-offend/id1438434927... How much does it cost to experience recovery from sex addiction? Tony Ramynke and I discuss that question in Episode 13 of SA speakeasy. More importantly, we discuss the potential cost of NOT getting treatment. https://podcasts.apple.com//ep-13-how-much-d/id1438434927 Also available on Spotify, Google, Overcast and more

Chris Williams and I talk about sex addiction as a form of emotional deafness in episode 12 of SA speakeasy. https://podcasts.apple.com//ep-12-sex-addict/id1438434927 We discuss why anger is easier to access than sadness, why people can't handle children's emotions, why people view porn in good times and bad, why it's hard to delight in simple pleasures, and more.... By the way, Chris does such a great job as a co-host for New Life Live. One of my favorite episodes is when he talks to Tracy from Atlanta about her son's fiancee who is dividing the family. So good! How do you cope when you get publicly embarrassed? Or when you get really behind schedule for an important project? Or when it feels like everyone is against you? According to Keaton Kleiner, a sex addiction specialist, some of us cope with life intentionally, and some of us cope lazily. And if we cope lazily enough, it can become a foundation for sex addictive behavior. Listen in as we talk about lazy vs. intentional coping skills, as well as Netflix, God, pre-porn journalin...g, group therapy, and more: https://podcasts.apple.com//ep-11-lazy-vs-in/id1438434927 Also available on Spotify, Google, Overcast, and more

Can I really stop my sex addiction? Is it possible? Bill Schuilenberg and I discuss what it actually takes to have sex addiction recovery. Some of the questions we discuss are: How common is sex addiction? How does sex addiction therapy begin? ... Why is the relationship between the therapist and the client so important? What is one of the most difficult parts of sex addiction treatment? How effective is group therapy? How long does it take to overcome sex addiction? Take a listen to Episode 9 "What does the road to recovery look like?" https://podcasts.apple.com//ep-9-what-does-t/id1438434927 Also available on Spotify, Google, Overcast and more
