Food For Thought Rotary Project Rotary Club of Redding is currently serving 88 children through this project and the schools are so grateful! A special thanks to our very own Kathy Malain, who has set up an excellent process for all the volunteers to follow. Every two weeks we take bread, healthy snacks, oatmeal variety packs, macaroni and cheese dinners, cup of noodles, peanut butter for some of the schools. Shout out to Jessica Whitlow and Cindy Fisher, who ha...ve detailed delivery experiences to guide us easily through the process. Everyone has exclaimed about the welcoming and the thankfulness of the schools receiving this program. We are so incredibly impressed by our Rotary volunteers. Only Rotarian's are so super organized and efficient! Making a Difference at Home and Around the World! See more

Rotary Club of Redding is- Making a Difference at Home and Around the World PROJECT: IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL!! ... I was on a wheelchair mission with other Rotarians from District 5160 to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. As a side trip, we had the opportunity to visit the Hospital Universitario, and met Dr. Sandra N. González Díaz, MD, PhD, who is a Rotarian at the Cumbres Rotary Club in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Years later Dr. Diaz approached me about an opportunity for our Rotary Club to join in a project with her Rotary Club. She explained that the Hospital Universitario (School of Medicine and University) where she works was in great need of equipment for the cardiopulmonary resuscitation Shock Trauma Unit. The equipment would allow them to treat severe and critical patients, giving continued evaluation and early stage management serving the needs and severity of each case. The Hospital Universitario serves more than 92,000 patients yearly to low income patients who don’t have health or hospital insurance and require medical attention at the emergency room. The Hospital gives care to more than 595,000 patients not only from the Nuevo Leon state at the northeast of Mexico, but also to 5 or 6 surrounding states, with patience occupancy rate of 86.5% during the year. The Hospital has assisted and diagnosed more than 896,000 patients who have received medical attention in medial first line, as well as Specialties like Radiology, Clinical Laboratory, Pathology and Cytopathology studies Thanks to the Rotary Club Cumbres of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, The Rotary Club of Redding, Our Sister Club of Chilliwack, DDF funds from District 5160 and the Rotary Foundation, the equipment is going to be purchased, and needless to say will save many lives. Breakdown for Equipment: 1. - SURGICAL LAMP Model. - HyLED 760/760 $289,900 Mexican pesos. In Dollars $ 13,843 2. - ULTRASOUND EQUIPMENT M - TURBO OF SANOSITE FUJIFILM $ 598.000 Mexican pesos. In Dollars $ 27,813 Total Project $41,656 Dollars
