Even with today's modern technology problems do occur! Shooting Saturday night and got this. I've seen it before, and think it's camera based - and not the memory card's fault. That said, my next camera will have a dual memory card slot for sure. Data is too valuable to be left on one card. Most camera manufactures get it and have dual slots these days--

BASICS ALWAYSThe devil is in the (audio) details - I was filming a news years party and I’d just packed up all my gear. Client approached me and asked me to film guy singing immediately so I scrambled to get my camera assembled and ready to go. I started to film I thought without issue as I could see the VU meters moving and I noted the gain was on auto. But next day I checked the files and was bummed that one of the audio channels had a clear, annoying, steady click in ...it. I had not taken the time to plug some headphones into the camera to make sure the sound was clean - My cable from my camera to the external mics was not seated properly and one channel was affect. Unfortunately this has happened to me more than once, and similarly when I was under pressure. Note to selfIf your footage is important (and it all is!) Take the time to make sure you’re getting clean audio! Often it’s one small issue that can seriously affect your whole project - basics are always important ! See more

A random post - The importance of hydration. I’ve worked in field production for many years, and I can’t stress the important of drinking enough water when on assignment. It’s so easy when you’re busy working to forget to drink enough water. Humans can go a lot longer without food than they can without water (duh) and this stands in the short run too. Me and my coworkers have experienced first hand the effects of dehydration - weakness, nausea and general malaise. It’s ...important to drink BEFORE you become thirsty. I was shooting my Moke river project in September with temps in the mid 90’s. I thought that I had drunk plenty of water, but of course got caught up in my shoot and forgot. It hit me rapidly, and I felt weakness and nausea that I didn’t at first associate with dehydration. I intentionally downed about a liter of water and very soon felt much better. A reminder to me again - carry and drink plenty of water! Your body will thank you! See more
