Rosie's Flower Shop

Kogetsu-Do, a Japanese confectionary has survived in the same Chinatown location for over 100 years. The confectionary specializes in manju, ice cream mochi & ...snowcones. Sugimatsu Ikeda and his wife opened the business in 1915 on Kern Street which he later moved to its current location on F Street in 1920. During World War II, the Ikedas were sent to Jerome, Arkansas to the internment camps. Ikeda was able to work out a deal with a Chinese family where they took over the business while they were in the camps. Two years later, Ikeda was released & he reopened the shop in 1944. The confectionary & its family recipes were passed down from generation to generation. Today, Lynn Ikeda, continues the family's legacy. If you are in the Chinatown area don't forget to stop by this historic location. They are located at 920 F St & are open Friday-Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
