We’ve got some happy locomotives chugging along on the track after a special visit from members of the Roseville Roundhouse Model Railroad Association! We are so grateful that they come to help us maintain our trains.

I took a video of the Gyralite in action, if you’re not able to come into the museum and see it in person. Remember, you can call into the museum and ask to reserve the museum for members of the same household. We offer reservations for up to an hour! #rosevillecahistory #rosevillehistoricalsociety #trainhistory

Thoughts on working at a museum, from the Museum Manager. There have been many people who have helped keep the museum running, long before I came along. I had the opportunity to watch one of our former curators give a tour of the museum in the past and he had such interesting tid bits about some of our artifacts, including this light. This light has been sitting on a shelf and I knew it made a bright light when turned on. What I didn’t know was that this was a gyralite, also called a Mars light. The bulbs rotated to send the beams out in a circular pattern! It helps to get attention and make sure people know a train is coming. Fair warning, don’t stare too long at this one in our museum, or you’ll be hypnotized and next thing you know, you’ll have bought our entire gift shop!

Guess who’s back? (It’s us) We are open again for museum visits at 25% capacity. We recommend calling the museum to reserve a time to visit, but we can’t wait to see your masked faces. Remember tomorrow is Second Saturday, so we will be open 10-2! If there are other parties, we ask that you wait patiently until we can accommodate you. If you have any questions, feel free to email or call us. 916-773-3003 [email protected]

We are saddened to report the loss of one of our Charter Members, Del Stephenson. Del was one of our founding members and donated his time to our Board as Past President, Treasurer and Secretary. We are so grateful for the time and effort he gave to us. He was a driving force behind our society and his death is a great loss for the entire community. We send our deepest condolences to his family.
