First day of Summer School at Roosevelt Walker Academy. It was breathtaking seeing our scholars walking on the hallways, playing on the playground and interacting with their teachers face to face. It is hard to explain the joy we all felt when they told us that they were so happy to be back at school. The day started with a surprise visit from our Superintendent. Thank you Mr. Almendarez for visiting us and for all your support.
Our last Reading Night for this year. Thank you everyone for coming. Also a special thanks to Ms. Rosas, our librarian, for organizing them. We wish everyone a great Summer and don’t forget to keep reading.
Happy Mother’s Day
El Dia de Los Niños , a tradition that began in Mexico in 1925, is celebrated on April 30 . The idea was born from the first World Conference for the Well-being of Children that was held in Geneva, Switzerland in August 1925. At that time several countries selected days to celebrate children. Dia Del Niño, or Day of the Child, is an annual celebration throughout Mexico. This day recognizes children, their importance to society and their well-being. We encourage every parent to try to spend quality time with your child by going out to play , improvising a home theater, taking them to eat ice cream, painting together, reading a book, giving them a card or recognition or reminding them how much you love them. Any of these things will be a good way to whish them a Happy Children's Day! Now more than ever your child needs to know how much you love them. Here are some quotes to reflect on: While we try to teach our children all bout life, our children teach us what life is all about-Angela Schwindt We worry about what a child will become tomorrow yet we forget that he is someone today- Stacie Tauscher There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. there are seven million-Walt Streightiff Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future- John F. Kennedy
