RRC Family-- It was announced earlier today that Riverside County would be moved back to the "purple tier" of Governor Gavin Newsom's statewide re-opening plan. This is the most restrictive of all the lockdown tiers. All restaurants, gyms and similar businesses are supposed to move their operations outside within 72 hours, or close. Rockridge Church will remain open and continue meeting as we have been since May 31st. For some reasons as to why, continue reading below. For t...he past several months, Rockridge Church has worked hard to make sure we offer as many options as possible for safe worship. We have done everything we can to make sure worship in the tent or online is available weekly, with the highest quality we can produce. In the building, every seat and public area is cleaned and disinfected before Sunday morning. We have been vigilant about wearing masks. We use social-distanced seating. We were open before the Governor's tiered re-opening plan was implemented and we were open last time our county was in purple phase. As long as we continue to be reasonable and responsible, we do not feel the need to close at this time. Further, though we have moved back to purple tier, conditions in Riverside County are no worse now than they were a week ago. In their own press release about this, Riverside County's Board of Public Health says that the county's 9.1 case positivity rate (as in, 9 out of every 100,000 people have the virus) is the result of the state adjusting the testing data upwards because the county did not provide enough tests from the past month. It is entirely possible that the county's positivity rate is actually low enough to meet the requirements to stay in red tier. It is a blessing to shepherd the flock of Christ here at Rockridge. RRC Family-- Allow me to be among the first to welcome you to the Red Tier of California's "Blueprint for a Safer Economy." You may have noticed that local gyms and restaurants are finally welcoming guests back inside (which we thank God for). I'm happy to tell you that this means Rockridge Church can now meet indoors safely and legally once more. If you've been joining us from home while you wait for the law to allow indoor meetings again, then let me encourage you to join u...s this Sunday. It will be a blessing to see your face again soon--albeit with a mask on if you're in the building. We eagerly await the day when all of our members are back at church together again. I pray this recent news is a big step towards that. While I know every family who calls RRC their church home will rejoin us at their own pace, I ask that you prayerfully consider joining us in-person soon as the situation in our county continues to improve. Maybe we'll even be moved down to orange tier in a few weeks. For now, celebrate by going to your favorite restaurant, sitting inside, and ordering a nice, juicy steak.
