Summertime.............and the living is easy or is it? It seems many are struggling and suffering as we strive to maintain life in its fullness. Ruth Chou Simons shares a Biblical answer for our suffering from our Gracelaced Devotional. Read Page 145 entitled "REJOICE". "We rejoice in our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character,... and character produces HOPE." Romans 5:3-4 Her theory is that the most joyful people in the world fight to REJOICE-- the family who's lost a child, a believer experiencing persecution, a child defying the label of disability, modern heroes of our faith like Joni Eareckson Tada or Elisabeth Elliot. They rejoice in the face of insurmountable difficulties, it isn't effortless, and it isn't without cost. Ruth points out it takes fire in the forest to prepare the pine cones and seeds to drop into the ash-filled nutrients and grow into new trees. "What appears to be devastation is often a rebirth. We may not know true suffering, but let's remember this: When we rejoice in our sufferings, we have HOPE instead of PAIN. Rejoicing is the seed-release party we offer back to the Lord as a faith-filled response to our sufferings." She also quotes from John MacArthur, "Christian joy is the emotion springing from the deep-down confidence of the Christian that God is in complete and perfect control of everything, and will bring from it our good in time, and our glory in eternity". "Rejoice ALWAYS, pray without ceasing, Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 What does your "seed-release" party look like? Laughter, tears, dancing, singing? Offer them all to God today as you REJOICE!! Additional scriptures: 2 Corinthians 4:7-17 Colossians 1:24-29 1 Peter 4:12-13 Praying, Praising, and Rejoicing over you, Margie

Welcome back, friends for another look at Ruth Chou Simon's Gracelaced devotional book. Today we share her message of "MASTERPIECE" on page 93 For we are God’s MASTERPIECE (workmanship-NIV). He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)... You, my friend, are a work of art. (masterpiece or workmanship comes from the Greek word for Poem or poetry) The best art is beautiful, unique, treasured. You are God's art--the work of His hands--divine poetry made to bring glory to Him! When God creates, He always makes a masterpiece. He is impeccable, giving the greatest attention to detail. He is not half-hearted in His workmanship or undecided in His purpose. Maybe you and I struggle to see God's great workmanship in our lives because we forget our purpose. We were lovingly created in Christ Jesus for good works designed by God, just for us. You are beautiful. You are unique and treasured and He's not even through with you yet. You were created to beautifully declare the most significant story our Savior has to tell! In what ways is your life an expression of poetry in action? Additional verses to ponder: Psalm 100:3 Isaiah 60:21 Isaiah 64:8 May you experience the fullness of Jesus Christ in His presence and abundant blessings today. I encourage you to BE PRESENT with Him. Asking the Lord to bestow His favor on you in a very tangible way! Margie

Happy Summer as we continue our "distance" Fellowship, sharing today from Gracelaced devos Page 81 entitled "DELIGHT". Did you ever imagine the joy the Father feels as He joins you each day? "The Lord your God is in your midst, A mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you by his love;... He will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17 This is a proclamation by the prophet Zephaniah, but more than that, it is a love letter from the Lord Himself. He delights in your! He rejoices over you! He breaks into loud singing over you! I can only imagine His wonderful voice. Ruth says, "We think His delight in us is wrapped up in what we do for Him...But His delight in us is based on His character and not ours." He is such a loving Heavenly Father-always!! Can you compose a reply to God's love letter? Additional scriptures: John 16:27, Galatians 2:20, 1John 3:1 Thinking of the song "Waymaker" again today......... "You are HERE moving in our midst, working in this place, touching every heart, healing and mending every heart, turning lives around.........I WORSHIP YOU! Waymaker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness, My God, that is who you are!" Yes we live in uncertain times, but we also live in certain times, Certain that a protective and loving God stands with us. Have a great week!! You are in my thoughts and prayers, Margie
