The engineering program at RC has a CREATE mentoring program after school, which is industry based and under the advisement of Ms Tan and Ms Yusufi. Students have mentors from the industry working with them and every year the industry chooses a topics and students in the mentoring program have to execute it. This year's project entailed identifying a non profit in the community that is in need of either a new building to provide program services or a substantial remodel of ...their current building. RCHS took 2nd place this year and two Seniors (Laura Huang and Evelyn Morisseau) received scholarships; Evelyn also received the Leadership Award. Parallel poetry is a great way to help students understand poetic structure, flow, and rhythm. Plus it allows students to take famous poem and make it their own or update it to reflect current times. Ms Goldman’s 11th grade students used this technique with Langston Hughes’ famous poem Harlem. Her AP students engaged in a fun and creative workshop on revision.
