Going through a divorce can be hard. It can be hell during the holidays.

Today we received our annual letter asking to help again with Senior Santa & Friends. It's hard to believe it's that time of year already!! For those of you w...ho do not know, this program is through the Department of Social Services and provides donated holiday gifts directly to low-income seniors. Every year there is a lot of attention and emphasis on helping children at the holidays, which is great. But we should also have a heart for the elderly, especially those who have very little in life. Holidays are not always a happy time for everyone, and this program brings some kindness and generosity directly to people who need it. There are three ways to donate: 1) Gift card of any denomination to grocery stores, discount stores, department stores or drug stores. 2) Send a check to "Senior Santa & Friends", PO Box 22006, Santa Ana, CA 92702-2006. 3) Donate a gift and drop it off at our office NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 11th, and we will take them all at once to the Orange County SSA office. Frequently requested items include: blankets, Ensure, Glucerna, nutritional supplements, new socks, new clothing, toasters, vacuums, blenders, fans, microwaves, Depends, pill organizers, readers.

Anyone who has been to family court knows how frustrating the overcrowding and delays are for people trying to get their divorce finalized. This is another great reason to give mediation a chance.

Our friends are organizing another Rock & Socks event to be held in May. This time they will also be handing out new teddy bears to the homeless children in addition to the new crew socks to the adults. Please come by our office to drop off donations of socks or bears for this great cause to help the people who call the street their home.

Calling all angels - please bring new socks!!! Our friends Dave & Justine Paulson are holding another Rock & Socks event in December. They play music and hand out new socks (one of the most requested and least donated items) to people who call the street their home. This time Pizza Hut will be donating a pizza party to the person who brings the most new men's crew socks to our Newport Beach office by December 15th!!! This would be a great opportunity to get a class at school, group of friends or neighbors, or your whole office involved in directly helping the homeless. Let's see who can gather the most socks!!!!
