Do you fear God? Do you understand what He is capable of? For in that understanding, you will begin to realize and recognize the Lord for how powerful He actually is. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. -Proverbs 9:10 Do not fear God because you think He wants to harm you, for that is not the case. This fear of the Lord is rather a respect for what He can do and who He is. Once you begin to realize that, your thoughts will begin to change. You will realize how ...much bigger He is than your worries, your fears. You will realize that He loves you with all of His fearfully respected power, and He has good plans for you. Do not worry about the things you can’t change when you can bring prayer to a God who can make change. See you on Sunday at 11:59 and Tuesday at 6:30! #riseup #branchout #riseupbranchout #temecula #thefearofthelord See more

LIFE GROUPS are in full swing! We have fun and games at Rise every Tuesday, but more importantly, our discussions cover real life and the reality of Scripture and the sacrifice of Christ. The long and short of it is: God knows our heart. He knows our sin, even before we commit it in our hearts. He sees what we do, even if we think no one is watching. We can’t hide that from God. This is not a reason to hide from him- that’s impossible. It is instead a reason to draw closer to God, repent of the sin in your heart, and ask him to renew you and restore his joy to you. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Psalms 51:10-12
WHO YOU GONNA CALL? Save the date! Friday, October 25, Rise is having a pizza and movie night in Temecula! Check the link in our bio, our website has all the deets!
Songs I Sing: Sin & Repentance Even David, the Psalmist, a man after God’s own heart, sinned out of his wicked heart. He desired the wife of another man and had her husband killed so he could cover up his sin and lies. Humans are not inherently good! They are sinful, and to have sin in your heart is to be separated from God. Psalm 51 is David’s public plea to God to forgive his sins and cleanse his heart. Notice that David ends the Psalm in praise and sacrifice to God, for he forgives David and all sinners. Therefore, take heart and have joy, for even while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, and God forgave us.
~Going through the motions~ Week TWO of Life Groups: Sometimes we can feel forsaken by God, sometimes he feels far away. The reality is that feelings are an unsteady and poor indicator of our relationship with God. Sometimes God may feel far away, but that is not the truth. The reality is that He is right there, present with you in your situation. Pastor Jim mentioned on Sunday that It is not God that leaves us, but rather us that stray away from God. How can we draw closer ...to God, despite how far away we may feel? Seek God! Seek his will in his word, and seek godly people who will remind you of how God never leaves you, how he loves you unconditionally. As you go through life, you will learn that though it will not always be easy, you will never have to do it alone. Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6 See more
Monday reminder: God is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him! Psalms 18:30
Whether you know it or not, you’re always setting an example to other people. Someone’s always watching, paying attention to what you do, what you say, how you react to and deal with situations (good OR bad) that come your way. What do people see when they watch you? Can they see your heart? If so, what does your heart look like? Paul writes that we are to do everything in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to the Father ...in word and in deed... (Col. 3:17). Is that what people see when they watch you? What songs does your life sing to God?
LIFE GROUPS started on Tuesday! We’re diving into the series Songs I Sing and we discussed the effects of the music and lyrics we choose to listen to on a regular basis. Music is spiritual, and what you choose to listen to voluntarily shows what your heart desires. What songs is your heart singing? Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless his name. Psalm 96:1-2
SWIPE FOR A LIGHT SHOW!! Tuesday’s Topic: EVANGELISM. It might not be the easiest thing to do as Christians, and some are more gifted at sharing the Gospel than others are, but it’s ultimately why God’s people are still here on this earth in this life! Jesus commanded before he arose to heaven: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded ...you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 How can you share Jesus with someone this week?
On Tuesday Cam opened up the floor for a Q&A from the Risers, and people asked questions anywhere from How do you know the Bible is true? to How do I Evangelize with Scripture to someone who doesn’t know the Bible? Have questions? Come on Tuesday for more discussion and fellowship! See you at 6:30pm on Tuesday!
Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes! With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word. Psalms 119:12-16 Keep your eyes fixed on Him this week. See you Tuesday @ 6:30
Our reaction when you say you haven’t been to Rise yet?! Swipe left to see the excitement from Tuesday’s game and the message and discussion about Jesus and the rich young ruler!
