Santa Ana, CA On August 6, 2019, Santa Ana residents from surrounding neighborhoods in the Willowick Golf Course came together to launch Rise Up Willowick, a coalition composed of residents and community organizations, to organize around the proposed development of the golf course. Rise Up Willowick members addressed disingenuous outreach attempts, a defining hallmark of the development process carried out by the cities of Santa Ana and Garden Grove, and outlined the community’s vision for how public land should be used to benefit longtime residents in the area. Become a member today and let's fight for our local public lands!

Residents of color will not be tokenized by any developer or cities. Jamboree’s Kelsey Brewer attempted to paint their proposal, to create market-rate housing plus commercial developments, as a response to community needs, without having done any work of outreach. The only proposal that honors the desires of the Santa Anita and Buena Clinton residents we surveyed as well as fulfills the spirit of the SLA is from the Trust for Public Land, Clifford Beers Housing, and the CA... State Coastal Conservancy. The City of Garden Grove intends to begin its 90-day Good Faith Negotiation period Tuesday night during its City Council Meeting! We now know the City has narrowed its negotiations to 3 proposals. Only one of these proposals honors the goal of the SLA to provide the deepest level of open space and affordable housing: the proposal put forward by the Trust for Public Land, Clifford Beers Housing and the State Coastal Conservancy. To this end, we call on our members and fol...lowers to email and virtually attend (link in bio!) Garden Grove’s City Council Meeting to demand that the City prioritize negotiations with the Trust for Public Land, Clifford Beers Housing and the State Coastal Conservancy and that the City provide a detailed process explaining how they plan to ensure Good Faith Negotiations. Kelsey Brewer, Jamboree’s Communication and Policy manager released an Op Ed, (12/03)Thursday morning mischaracterizing the SLA process and promoting their developers proposal for Willowick. Later that evening, the city of Garden Grove released their agenda for their Tuesday, December 8 city council meeting where they intend to approve a motion to begin the 90 day good faith negotiation period. Jamboree, City Ventures and Primestor are one of three entities they will be negot...iating with RUW wants to dispel myths shared from this Op- Ed and clearly state RUW does NOT support their proposal for Willowick.
